Claims
- 1. A method of making a biodegradable interbody spinal fusion device for spinal fixation or implant, comprising the steps of:providing a mold for a hydrolytically degradable spinal fusion device or implant; orienting reinforcing fibers under tension in the mold; introducing a hydrolytically degradable material comprising 25-100% polymer degrading by hydrolysis to produce acidic products or low molecular weight resorbable fragments into the mold; molding the material under pressure; and releasing tension on the reinforcing fibers prior to removing the device or implant from the mold.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the reinforcing fibers are made of the same material as the hydrolytically degradable material.
