Claims
- 1. A mathod of making a coupling element for a slide fastener having a pair of element-carrying tapes, the coupling element being mounted on either one of the pair of tapes, comprising the steps of: providing a blank metal web having a central portion extending longitudinally thereof and a pair of marginal portions integral one with each side of said central portion, each of said marginal portions being transversely tapered toward said central portion; drawing a limited area portion of said central portion out of the plane thereof away from its one surface to form a projection for intercoupling engagement with a coupling element on the other tape; and stamping out said metal web to form a coupling element having a head portion including said projection and formed of said central portion and a pair of tape edge clamping legs each integral with said head portion and formed of one of said pair of marginal portion.
