- inserting the articles (18) to be packed in the troughs (15) of the corrugations;
- and bending the supporting webs (7 to 11) at the corrugation tops (5) along parallel fold lines (32, 33) extending in the longitudinal direction of the band and about the articles to be packed.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the insertion step comprises
- introducing the articles to be packed into the troughs of the corrugations in a direction parallel to the axes of the troughs.
- 3. A method according to claim 1, wherein the step providing the bands from which the covering band (3) and the corrugated band (2) are formed comprises supplying the bands from respective rolls of cardboard.
- 4. A method according to claim 1, further comprising the step of forming the tops (5) of the corrugations with lines of weakness (36, 37) and the corrugations are then pressed flat, wherein the step of forming lines of weakness comprises forming lines of perforations.
