Claims
- 1. A method of making a piezoelectric vibrator, comprising the steps of:
- providing a disk-shaped piezoelectric member having a central hole therethrough;
- depositing a pattern of excitation electrodes on one side of the piezoelectric member, the excitation electrodes having the general shape of circular segments and being circumferentially spaced apart from one another;
- polarizing the excitation electrodes according to a predetermined pattern; and
- depositing an outer short-circuit electrode pattern on the outermost periphery of the piezoelectric member to interconnect the radial outer ends of selected ones of the excitation electrodes and depositing an inner short-circuit electrode pattern on the periphery of the central hole of the piezoelectric member to interconnect the radial inner ends of selected ones of the excitation electrodes.
- 2. A method according to claim 1; wherein the depositing steps are carried out by evaporative deposition.
- 3. A method according to claim 1; wherein the step of depositing a pattern of excitation electrodes comprises depositing the excitation electrodes so that alternate ones thereof extend radially inwardly a greater extent than the ones adjacent thereto.
- 4. A method according to claim 1; wherein the step of depositing a pattern of excitation electrodes comprises depositing the excitation electrodes so that alternate ones thereof extend radially outwardly a greater extent than the ones adjacent thereto.
- 5. A method according to claim 1; including forming a marking portion on at least one of the excitation electrodes for designating the direction of polarization of the excitation electrodes.
