Claims
- 1. A method of making an optical manifold, comprising the steps of:
(a) creating a CAD data source representative of the optical manifold; and (b) creating the optical manifold by a rapid prototyping process using the CAD data source.
- 2. A method of making an optical manifold, comprising the steps of:
(a) designing the optical manifold using a CAD system programmed to ensure that no individual fiber positioned within the manifold is forced to experience a bend tighter than a critical bend radius; and (b) creating the optical manifold by a rapid prototyping process using data from the CAD system.
- 3. A method of making an optical manifold, comprising the steps of:
(a) designing the optical manifold using a CAD system so that adjacent passageways for optical fibers share a common sidewall; and (b) creating the optical manifold by a rapid prototyping process using data from the CAD system.
