This application is in the area of methods for the manufacture of 1,3-dioxalane nucleosides and is a continuation application of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 09/373,891, filed on Aug. 12, 1999, now patented as U.S. Pat. No. 6,215,004, which claims priority to U.S. provisional applications serial No. 60/096,214, filed on Aug. 12, 1998 and No. 60/122,841, filed on Mar. 4, 1999.
