Claims
- 1. A method of manufacturing an article with magnetized magnetic substances arranged according to patterns, comprising the steps of:
- forming grooves respectively corresponding to said patterns in a substrate by anisotropically etching said substrate;
- burying said magnetic substances into said grooves; and
- magnetizing said magnetic substances.
- 2. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said article is a magnetic scale.
- 3. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said burying step includes
- burying said magnetic substances each having a diameter of 1 to 5 .mu.m into said grooves and
- placing a plate on the buried magnetic substances and pressing said plate against said substrate so as to increase density of said buried magnetic substances.
- 4. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said burying step is performed by a sputter deposition process.
- 5. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said burying step is performed by an electroplating process.
- 6. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said burying step further includes polishing said magnetic substances so that surfaces thereof become smooth.
- 7. A method as set forth in claim 1, which further comprises the step of forming a protecting film on said substrate.
- 8. A method as set forth in claim 1, in which said magnetic substances in said grooves are magnetized by magnetic field perpendicular to a surface of said substrate.
