Claims
- 1. A method of manufacturing a perpendicular magnetic recording floppy disk comprising the steps of:
- forming a first magnetic recording layer by sputtering a perpendicularly magnetizable material on one side of a plastic film substrate; and
- forming a second magnetic recording layer by sputtering said perpendicularly magnetizable material on the other side of said plastic film substrate, after forming said first magnetic recording layer, said second magnetic recording layer having a thickness greater than that of said first magnetic recording layer when a curl of the first magnetic recording layer on the plastic film substrate, resulting from forming the first magnetic recording layer on the plastic film substrate, is to the outside with respect to said first magnetic recording layer.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, in which said perpendicularly magnetizable material is a Co--Cr-based magnetic material and said second magnetic recording layer has a thickness 2% to 10% greater than that of said first magnetic recording layer.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising the steps of:
- forming, before the formation of said first magnetic recording layer, a first soft magnetic layer by sputtering a soft magnetic material; and
- forming, before the formation of said second magnetic recording layer, a second soft magnetic layer by sputtering said soft magnetic material, said second soft magnetic layer having a thickness greater than that of said first soft magnetic layer.
- 4. The method according to claim 3, wherein during the formation of said first and second soft magnetic layers, a plastic film substrate temperature is kept as high as possible, but within a range is which said plastic film substrate is subject to no heat damage resulting from the sputtering of said soft magnetic material.
- 5. The method according to claim 1, wherein during the formation of said first and second magnetic recording layers, a plastic film substrate temperature is kept as high as possible, but within a range in which said plastic film substrate is subject to no heat damage resulting from the sputtering of said perpendicularly magnetizable material.
- 6. A method of manufacturing a perpendicular magnetic recording floppy disk comprising the steps of:
- forming a first magnetic recording layer by sputtering a perpendicularly magnetizable material on one side of a plastic film substrate; and
- forming a second magnetic recording layer by sputtering said perpendicularly magnetizable material on the other side of said plastic film substrate after forming said first magnetic recording layer, said second magnetic recording layer having a thickness lower than that of said first magnetic recording layer when a curl of the first magnetic recording layer on the plastic film substrate, resulting from forming the first magnetic recording layer on the plastic film substrate, is to the inside with respect to said first magnetic recording layer.
- 7. The method according to claim 6, wherein said perpendicularly magnetizable material is a Co--Cr-based magnetic material and said second magnetic recording layer has a thickness 10 to 35% lower than that of said first magnetic recording layer.
- 8. The method according to claim 6, wherein during the formation of said first and second magnetic recording layers, a plastic film substrate temperature is kept as high as possible, but within a range in which said plastic film substrate is subject to no heat damage resulting from the sputtering of said perpendicularly magnetizable material.
