Claims
- 1. A method of packaging an aqueous slurry comprising the steps of coating with a thin layer of a humectant an inner surface of a material which forms at least a lower portion of a container for facilitating retention of the slurry moisture within the slurry of dry powder thoroughly mixed with water, but susceptible of drying out into said coated lower portion of said container and sealing said container.
- 2. A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said aqueous slurry is a ready-mix joint compound.
- 3. A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said humectant is applied to said inner surface by a spry nozzle spraying humectant while said nozzle is disposed at a vertical disposition which is within said container.
- 4. A method as defined in claim 3 wherein said spray nozzle has a downwardly directed hemispherical spray tip, directing said spraying of said humectant horizontally in all horizontal directions from said nozzle and downwardly in all downward directions from said nozzle and substantially simultaneously coating all inner surfaces of said container disposed at or below said vertical disposition of said spray nozzle.
- 5. A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said humectant is a glycol.
- 6. A method as defined in claim 5 wherein said glycol is a member of the class consisting of ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol and propylene glycol.
- 7. A method as defined in claim 5 wherein said aqueous slurry is a ready-mix joint compound and said container is a polyethylene bag disposed within a corrugated cardboard box.
- 8. A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said container is a plastic film bag.
- 9. A method as defined in claim 8 wherein said plastic film bag is first inserted into a relatively rigid outer shell of a size suitable to support said bag with said aqueous slurry therein.
- 10. A method as defined in claim 9 wherein said bag is a polyethylene film bag and said outer shell is a corrugated cardboard box.
