Claims
- 1. A method of producing .alpha..sub.2 -adrenergic receptor agonist activity comprising administering to an animal in need of said activity production, an amount of a compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from hydrogen or loweralkyl of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, sufficient to produce said activity.
- 2. A method of treating hypertension comprising administering to an animal in need of said treatment an antihypertensively effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR8## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from hydrogen and loweralkyl of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 3. A method of claim 1 or 2 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen.
- 4. A method of claim 3 wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen.
- 5. A method of claim 3 wherein R.sub.3 is hydrogen and R.sub.4 is methyl.
- 6. A method of claim 3 wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are methyl.
