Claims
- 1. A method of removing dried paint from a fiat glass work surface comprising:
- providing a brush having a brush support rotatably supported along an axis of rotation, said brush support having filaments extending from a portion of said brush support and contacting said flat glass work surface;
- oscillating said brush support in a back-and-forth movement about said axis of rotation and moving said axis of rotation of said brush support away from said flat glass work surface during said back-and-forth movement of said brush support while maintaining said filaments in contact with said dried paint on said flat glass work surface without exerting an undue force on said flat glass work Surface thereby removing said dried paint from said flat glass work surface without damaging said flat glass work surface.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of moving said axis of rotation of said brush support comprises simultaneously camming said brush support and said axis of rotation away from said flat glass work surface to move said axis of rotation and said brush support away from said flat glass work surface during said oscillation of said brush support and said filaments; wherein said brush support and said filaments are in a first contacting position substantially at an angle relative to said flat glass work surface prior to said oscillation of said brush support and said filaments; said oscillation step rotating said brush support and said filaments from said first contacting position to a second contacting position along said axis of rotation; said oscillation thereby positioning said filaments substantially perpendicular to said flat glass work surface;
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of oscillating said brush support comprises oscillating said brush support having filaments where said filaments are made from a material selected from the group consisting of brass, silicon carbide grit, nylon, and polypropylene. and said simultaneous camming step positioning said axis of rotation and said brush support further away from said flat glass work surface.
- 4. The method of claim 1 the step of moving said brush support comprises camming said brush support away from said flat glass work surface
- 5. A method of removing dried paint from a substantially flat work surface comprising:
- providing a brush having a brush support rotatably supported along an axis of rotation within a housing having an opening defining a work area, said brush support having a plurality of filaments extending from a portion of said support and contacting the substantially flat work surface;
- oscillating said brush support and said plurality of filaments in a back-and-forth movement, and moving said brush support away from said substantially flat work surface and said work area opening during a portion of said brush oscillation while maintaining said plurality of filaments in contact with said substantially flat work surface without exerting an undue force on said substantially flat work surface, thereby removing said dried paint from said substantially flat work surface without damaging said substantially flat work surface.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein the step of moving said brush support away from said work area opening comprises camming said brush support away from said substantially flat work surface.
- 7. The method of claim 5 wherein the step of moving said brush support comprises moving said brush support from a first brush support position disposed toward said substantially flat work surface to a second brush support position disposed away from said substantially flat work surface and back to said first brush support position.
- 8. The method of claim 5 wherein the step of moving said brush support comprises moving said brush support from a first brush support position with said brush support disposed toward said substantially flat work surface and said plurality of filaments oriented in a first direction; oscillating said brush support and said plurality of filaments to a second brush support position with said plurality of filaments oriented in a direction and substantially perpendicular to said substantially flat work surface and said brush support disposed further away from said substantially flat work surface than said first brush support position and oscillating said brush support and plurality of filaments to a third brush support position with said plurality of filaments oriented in a third direction to said substantially flat work surface and said brush support disposed nearer to said substantially flat work surface than said second brush support position
- 9. The method of claim 5 further comprising the step of biasing said brush support toward said substantially flat work surface, said step of moving said brush support comprising moving said brush support against said biasing.
- 10. A method of removing dried paint from a substantially flat glass work surface comprising:
- providing a brush having a brush support rotatably supported along an axis of rotation, said brush support having a plurality filaments extending from a portion of said support and contacting the flat glass work surface;
- oscillating said brush support in a back-and-forth movement about said axis of rotation, said brush support having said plurality of filaments extending from a portion of said brush support toward said substantially flat glass work surface;
- camming said brush support during a portion of said oscillation from a first brush support position to second brush support position wherein said first brush support position and said plurality of filaments oriented in a first direction while contacting said substantially flat glass work surface wherein said second brush support position having said brush support axis of rotation disposed further away from said substantially flat glass work surface and said plurality of filaments contacting said substantially flat glass work surface substantially perpendicular to said substantially flat glass work surface; further oscillating said brush support to a third brush support position with said plurality of filaments oriented in a third direction different from said first filament direction or said perpendicular direction so as to contact said substantially flat glass work surface and remove said dried paint from said substantially flat glass work surface without scratching said substantially flat glass work surface.
- 11. The method of claim 10 further comprising the step of biasing said brush support toward said substantially flat glass work surface, said step of camming said brush support comprising camming said brush support against said biasing.
