Claims
- 1. A chemical drug delivery system for the transdermal delivery of high molecular weight drug actives, comprising: a drug active having a molecular weight in the range from 500 to 6000 daltons encapsulated in an encapsulating polymer with a skin penetrant enhancer which is polyvinylpyrrolidone, said drug active being encapsulated in a microsphere between 0.001 .mu.m and 0.9 .mu.m in size.
- 2. The system according to claim 1, wherein said encapsulating polymer is an alginate.
- 3. The system according to claim 2, wherein said alginate is sodium alginate.
- 4. The system according to claim 3, which further comprises a crosslinker which is a chitin.
