Claims
- 1. A method for treating an animal afflicted with a viral infection comprising administering by injection to said animal an effective anti-viral amount of a platinum coordination compound selected from the group consisting of malonatoethylenediamine platinum(II), methylmalonatoethylenediamine platinum (II), ethylmalonatoethylenediamineplatinum (II), malonatodiammineplatinum (II), methylmalonatodiammineplatinum (II), ethylmalonatodiammine platinum (II), bismalonatodiammine platinum (IV), bismethylmalonatodiammine (IV), and bisethylmalonatodiammineplatinum (IV).
- 2. A method according to claim 1 wherein the amount of said compound administered is from about 0.1 to about 100 mg/kg of body weight of said animal.
- 3. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is administered parenterally.
