Claims
- 1. A method for therapeutic or diagnostic treatment of a living being comprising the steps of:
- a) administering a medical agent labeled with an affinity ligand to the living being; and
- b) removing the medical agent from said living being by passing bodily fluid over a support having immobilized receptor to the affinity ligand.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said affinity ligand and receptor are selected from the group consisting of an enzyme and a substrate or substrate analog.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said affinity ligand and receptor are selected from the group consisting of an antibody and an antigen or hapten.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said affinity ligand and receptor are selected from the group consisting of avidin and biotin.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said medical agent is selected from the group consisting of drugs, drug/hapten complexes, enzymes, carbohydrates, antibodies, cytokines, biological response modifiers, glycoproteins, lipids/glycolipids, proteolipids, hormones, proteins, large protein complexes, liposomes, carbohydrate complexes, and inorganic complexes.
