Claims
- 1. A composition comprising:(a) an amphoteric or pseudoamphoteric agent, wherein the amphoteric or psudoamphoteric agent is selected from the group consisting of amino acids, dipeptides, aminoaldonic acid, aminouronic acid, lauryl aminoproplyglycine, aminoaldaric acid, neuraminic acid, desulfated heparin, deacetylated hyaluronic acid, hyalobiuronic acid, chondrosine, deacetylated chondroitin, creatine, creatinine, hydroxyproline, homocysteine, homocystine, homoserine, ornithine, citrulline, phosphatidylserine, and sphingomyelin; and (b) a polyhydroxy alpha hydroxyacid existing as a free acid, lactone, or salt, and isomeric or non-isomeric forms thereof.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyhydroxy alpha hydroxyacid is selected from the group consisting of glyceric acid, erythronic acid, threonic acid, ribonic acid, arabinoic acid, xylonic acid, lyxonic acid, allonic acid, altronic acid, gluconic acid, mannoic acid, gulonic acid, idonic acid, galactonic acid, talonic acid, glucoheptonic acid, galactoheptonic acid, saccharic acid, mucic acid, glucuronic acid, and galacturonic acid.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyhydroxy alpha hydroxyacid is selected from the group consisting of glycerolactone, erythronolactone, threonolactone, ribonolactone, arabinolactone, xylonolactone, lyxonolactone, allonolactone, altronolactone, gluconolactone, mannolactone, gulonolactone, idonolactone, galactonolactone, talonolactone, glucoheptonolactone, galactoheptonolactone, saccharic acid lactone, mucic acid lactone, glucuronolactone, and galacturonolactone.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the amino acid is selected from the group consisting of glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, serine, threonine, cysteine, cystine, methionine, aspartic acid, asparagine, glutamic acid, glutamine, arginine, lysine, histidine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan, proline, β-alanine, γ-aminobutyric acid, β-aminoisobutyric acid, homocysteine, homoserine, ornithine, and citrulline.
- 5. The composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a cosmetic or a pharmaceutical agent for topical treatment of dermatological disorders.
- 6. The composition of claim 4, wherein said cosmetic or pharmaceutical agent is selected from the group consisting of clotrimazole, ketoconazole, miconazole, griseofulvin, hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine, pramoxine, lidocaine, procaine, mepivacaine, hydroquinone, monobenzone, erythromycin, tetracycline, clindamycin, meclocycline, minocycline, naproxen, ibuprofen, theophylline, cromolyn, albuterol, retinoic acid, 13-cis retionoic acid, hydocortisone, hydrocortisone 21-acetate, hydrocortisone 17-valerate, hydrocortisone 17-butyrate, betamethasone dipropionate, triameinolone acetonide, fluocinonide, clobetasol propionate, benzoyl peroxide, crotamiton, propranolol, promethazine, vitamin A acetate, vitamin A palmitate and vitamin E acetate.
