Claims
- 1. In a process for winding a fiber material into a plurality of windings consisting of one or more turns of the fiber material, said windings having different extensions in a direction in which a main part of the fiber material is oriented during the winding process, the improvement that said winding process is performed by means of a winding device having a rotational axis and two side walls arranged perpendicular to the rotational axis, each side wall of the winding device being provided with two slits extending from a middle portion to both extreme ends of the side wall substantially parallel to edges of the side wall, and the process comprises the steps of:
- a) rotating the two side walls of the winding device about its rotational axis during process steps b) to g),
- b) bringing a supply of bolts into a radius of the two side walls whereby the bolts have a smaller diameter than the widths of the slits in the side walls and a greater length than a distance between the side walls
- c) feeding at least one bolt which has a smaller diameter than the width of the slits and a greater length than the distance between the two side walls into the two adjacent slits in the two side walls while the winding device is in rotation,
- d) removing the supply of bolts from the radius of the two side walls of the winding device,
- e) winding said at least one bolt with one or more turns of fiber material wherein the fiber material forms a loop around the at least one bolt,
- f) repeating steps b) to d) while the winding of the fiber material is continued and
- g) continuing the winding of the bolts with the fiber material and the feeding of the bolts until a desired number of fiber windings is reached.
- 2. In the process of claim 1 the improvement that it is performed by means of a winding device wherein each side wall is provided at its extreme ends with perforated lateral extensions and the process comprises the further steps of
- h) continuing the winding of the fiber material after having fed the last bolt into two adjacent slits in the two side walls of the winding device,
- i) attaching a spool to each pair of adjacent perforated lateral extensions and
- j) winding the spools with one or more turns of fiber material.
- 3. In the process of claim 1 the improvement that it is performed by means of a winding device of which the rotational axis is provided with a removable central bolt and the process comprises the further steps of
- k) removing the removable central bolt from the winding device after having completed the winding of the fiber material,
- l) compressing at least the fiber wrapping next to the rotational axis perpendicular to a main orientation of the fiber material and perpendicular to the rotational axis,
- m) removing the bolts from the slits in the two side walls of the winding device,
- n) introducing a cutting device into each pair of adjacent slits next to the rotational axis and
- o) moving the cutting devices in the slits towards the extreme ends of the side walls and cutting all loops of the fiber winding except the loops of those windings surrounding the spools.
- 4. The process of claim 2 comprising the further step of p) providing tension to fiber material by attaching the spools to a stretching device which is equipped with two spool holders.
- 5. In the process of claim 1 the improvement that it is performed by means of a winding device of which the rotational axis is provided with a removable central bolt and the process comprises the further steps of
- k) removing the removable central bolt from the winding device after having completed the winding of the fiber material,
- l) compressing at least the fiber wrapping next to the rotational axis perpendicular to a main orientation of the fiber material and perpendicular to the rotational axis,
- m) removing the bolts from the slits in the two side walls of the winding device,
- n) introducing a cutting device into each pair of adjacent slits next to the rotational axis and
- o) moving the cutting devices in the slits towards the extreme ends of the side walls and cutting the loops of the fiber windings.
- 6. The process of claim 5 comprising the further steps of q) transferring the produced fiber windings of which the loops are cut into a mold,
- r) impregnating them with a resin and s) curing them.
- 7. The process of claim 1 wherein the fiber material is selected from the group consisting of filaments, yarns and rovings.
- 8. The process of claim 1 comprising the further steps of q) transferring the produced fiber windings into a mold, r) impregnating them with a resin and s) curing them.
