automatically determining a limitation of a second ink amount of said printing device, based on said analysis of said data.
- 5. The method according to claim 1 further comprising:
determining an aim value of a calibration curve of said printing system, based on said analysis of said data.
- 6. The method according to claim 1 wherein said pattern includes:
a first line pattern having first lines and a first amount of white space between said first lines; and a second line pattern having second lines and a second amount of white space between said second lines; and wherein said first amount of white space is different from said second amount of white space.
- 7. The method according to claim 1 wherein said receiving substrate is a newsprint.
- 8. A method for determining a characteristic of a printing system comprising a printing device and a receiving substrate, said method comprising:
analyzing data from a pattern printed on said receiving substrate by said printing device; selecting a first ink amount of said printing device; automatically determining, based on said analysis, a characteristic of said printing system indicating an amount of bleeding, corresponding to said first ink amount; determining a gamut of said printing system, said gamut corresponding to said first ink amount.
- 9. The method according to claim 8 further comprising:
automatically determining a limitation of a second ink amount of said printing device, based on said analysis of said data.
- 10.The method according to claim 8 further comprising:
determining an aim value of a calibration curve of said printing system, based on said analysis of said data.
- 11.The method according to claim 8 wherein said pattern includes:
a first line pattern having first lines and a first amount of white space between said first lines; and a second line pattern having second lines and a second amount of white space between said second lines; and wherein said first amount of white space is different from said second amount of white space.
- 12.The method according to claim 8 wherein said receiving substrate is a newsprint.
- 13.A data processing system for determining a characteristic of a printing system comprising a printing device and a receiving substrate, said system comprising:
means for analyzing data from a pattern printed on said receiving substrate by said printing device; and means for automatically determining, based on said analysis, an artifact characteristic of said printing system.
- 14.The system according to claim 13 further comprising means for selecting a first ink amount of said printing device, wherein said artifact characteristic corresponds to said first ink amount.
- 15.The system according to claim 14 further comprising means for determining a gamut of said printing system, said gamut corresponding to said first ink amount.
- 16.The system according to claim 13 further comprising means for automatically determining a limitation of a second ink amount of said printing device, based on said analysis of said data.
- 17.The system according to claim 13 further comprising means for determining an aim value of a calibration curve of said printing system, based on said analysis of said data.
- 18.The system according to claim 13 wherein said pattern includes:
a first line pattern having first lines and a first amount of white space between said first lines; and a second line pattern having second lines and a second amount of white space between said second lines; and wherein said first amount of white space is different from said second amount of white space.
- 19.The system according to claim 13 wherein said receiving substrate is a newsprint.
- 20.A computer program product for determining a characteristic of a printing system comprising a printing device and a receiving substrate, said computer program product comprising:
a computer readable medium; first program instructions for determining an artifact characteristic of said printing system, based on an analysis of data from a pattern printed on said receiving substrate by said printing device; wherein said first program instructions are recorded on said computer readable medium.
- 21.The computer program product according to claim 20 wherein said artifact characteristic indicates an amount of bleeding.
- 22.The computer program product according to claim 20 further comprising second program instructions for selecting a first ink amount of said printing device, wherein said artifact characteristic corresponds to said first ink amount; and wherein said second program instructions are recorded on said computer readable medium.
