The present invention relates to provide padding for a conventional wire or plastic hanger.
Wire and plastic hangers are commonly used to hang clothing on, in particular, clothing that is received from a dry cleaner. Wire and plastic hangers are commonly used to hang both shirts and pants. Some clothing may be damaged by stretching and indentations due to the use of wire and plastic hangers. Most wire/plastic hangers fail to provide any type of cushioning especially at the corners of the hangers or along the horizontal extensions associated with the wire hanger. The conventional hanger includes a top hook with sloping horizontal extensions extending from the top hook and the base extending between the sloping horizontal extensions. The hanger is essentially triangle shaped and made of metal such as aluminum or plastic. Although some padding may be provided for hanging pants across the base, the sloping horizontal extensions remain exposed to clothing and as stated could cause damage, stretching and undesired creasing of the clothes over a period. As a result, it would be advantageous to have a system and device that could be placed on existing wire/plastic hangers to provide appropriate padding for garments.
The present invention relates to a method to pad a clothes hanger that includes the steps of: inserting a first foam pad on a base of the clothes hanger; inserting a second foam pad on a first sloping horizontal extension; and inserting a third foam pad on a second sloping horizontal extension.
The present invention relates to foam padding that is inserted over the sloping horizontal extensions and base of a conventional hanger. The foam padding according to present invention is applied as a spiral cylinder across the length of each sloping horizontal extension and the base of a hanger. Once placed over the hanger, the padding provides a suitable surface for garment contact while hanging clothing.
