Claims
- 1. A method to quantify the conjugated dienes in a feed or product stream comprising:
(a) dissolving MTAD in said feedstream, (b) determining the molar concentration of said conjugated dienes and/or the carbon number distribution of said conjugated dienes.
- 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of introducing a reference compound to a feed or product stream as a quantification standard.
- 3. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of determining total conjugated dienes by GC-NCD.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the MTAD: conjugated diene ratio is between 2 to 10.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the MTAD: conjugated diene ratio is between 2 and 3.5.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein an on-line gas chromtograph is used to separate isomeric components of MTAD-conjugated diene adducts.
- 7. The process of claim 1 wherein all MTAD-conjugated diene molecules, cyclic and acyclic form M+D+ and M+ND4+ ions in ND3 Chemical ionization.
- 8. The process of claim 1 wherein mass spectrometry is used to resolve MTAD-conjugated diene molecules of/with different carbon numbers.
- 9. The process of claim 1 wherein the total concentration of conjugated dienes is determined by GC-NCD.
- 10. The process of claim 1 wherein the relative sensitivities of MTAD-conjugated diene adducts are measured and applied to correct the ND3-GC/MS response.
- 11. The process of claim 1 wherein the molar concentration of conjugated dienes is determined.
- 12. The method of claim 1 wherein the carbon number distribution of said conjugated dienes is determined.
- 13. The process of claim 9 wherein the carbon number distribution is determined up to 10.
- 14. A method to quantify the conjugated dienes and their carbon number distribution in feed or product stream comprising:
(a) Introducing a reference compound to feed or product stream as quantification standard; (b) Dissolving MTAD in said feed or product stream to chemically derivative the conjugated diene components; (c) Introducing the MTAD derivatized sample into a gas chromatograph or other means to separate molecules by chemical structure; (d) Determining total conjugated dienes by GC-NCD; and (e) Determining the molar concentration of said conjugated dienes and/or the carbon number distributions of the said conjugated dienes by ND3 chemical ionization GC/MS.
