Claims
- 1. A process for interrupting pregnancy and causing resorption of the fetus in a pregnant female which comprises administering to said female an effective amount therefor of at least one compound belonging to the class of substituted 1-benzyl-1H-indazole-3-carboxylic acids, amides and esters having the Formula (I) ##STR2## wherein R is H, CH.sub.3, OCH.sub.3, halogen;
- R.sub.1 is H, CH.sub.3, or halogen;
- R.sub.2 is halogen, CH.sub.3, OCH.sub.3, CF.sub.3, CONH.sub.2, SO.sub.2 CH.sub.3 ;
- R.sub.3 is H, halogen;
- R.sub.4 is OH, NH.sub.2, OR.sub.5 ;
- R.sub.5 being an easily hydrolyzable group --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH, --CH.sub.2 CHOH CH.sub.2 OH or --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these compounds.
- 2. A process according to claim 1, wherein said effective amount comprises between about 2 to 20 mg./kg. p.o.
- 3. A process according to claim 1, wherein the compound of formula I is 1-(4-chlorobenzyl)-1H-indazole-3-carboxylic acid.
- 4. A process according to claim 1, wherein the compound of formula I is 1-(2,4-dichlorobenzyl)-1H-indazole-3-carboxylic acid.
