Claims
- 1. A method of preventing or treating an infection caused by any bacterial infection caused by any bacteria species in which RAP plays a role in pathogenesis, comprising:
administering to a subject an amount of a RAP type polypeptide effective to elicit an antibody response in the subject to prevent or treat a bacterial infection caused by a bacteria species in which a RAP type molecule plays a role in pathogenesis.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is S. epidermidis.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Streptococcus pyogenes.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Listeria monocytogenes.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Lactococcus lactis.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Enterococcus faecalis.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Escherichia coli.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Clostridium acetobutylicum.
- 9. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is Bacillus subtilis.
- 10. A method of preventing or treating an infection caused by any bacterial infection caused by any bacteria species in which RAP plays a role in pathogenesis, comprising:
administering to a subject having or at risk of a bacteria infection caused by a bacteria in which RAP type molecule plays a role in pathogenesis an amount of RIP or a RIP derivative effective to treat or prevent the bacterial infection.
- 11. The method of claim 1 wherein said species is any species of Staphylococcus.
- 12. The method of claim 10 further comprises the step of coating a device with said RIP or RIP derivative.
- 13. A method of preventing or treating an infection caused by any bacterial infection caused by any bacteria species in which a TRAP type molecule plays a role in pathogenesis, comprising:
administering to a subject an amount of a TRAP type polypeptide effective to elicit an antibody response in the subject to prevent or treat a bacterial infection caused by a bacteria species in which a TRAP type molecule plays a role in pathogenesis.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein said TRAP type molecule is YhgC.
