Claims
- 1. A method of providing a jewelry ring having the form of an annular band comprising:
providing a pressure mold having a cavity of predetermined annular configuration and size formed therein, the size of the mold being greater than the final size of the annular band; providing a mixture of two or more powdered materials that can be solidified upon the application of pressure and heat; depositing a predetermined quantity of said mixture of powdered materials within said cavity; compressing said quantity of powdered material at a predetermined pressure to form an annular blank; and sintering said blank at a predetermined temperature to form a sintered band; and grinding a surface of said sintered band to form at least two facets thereupon; said predetermined mold size, said predetermined quantity of said mixture of powdered materials, said predetermined pressure, and said predetermined sintering temperature being selected to provide substantially a required annular band finished size that is smaller than the size of the mold.
- 2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said annular band has at least one depression formed in the outer surface thereof.
- 3. A method as recited in claim 2, further comprising the step of affixing at least one material within said at least one depression.
- 4. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said affixed material is a metal that is affixed to said annular band by brazing.
- 5. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said affixed material is affixed to said annular band through the use of resinous materials.
- 6. A method as recited in claim 3, and further comprising the step of finish polishing at least one surface of said annular band.
- 7. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said annular band has at least one facet formed in an outer surface thereof.
- 8. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said affixed at least one material is affixed to said annular band by a mechanical interlocking of parts.
- 9. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said band is severed to form a plurality of sub-bands, each forming at least a component of said jewelry ring.
- 10. A method as recited in claim 1, and further comprising affixing a gemstone or piece of metal to said jewelry ring.
- 11. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said component has a plurality of facets formed in an outer surface thereof.
- 12. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein said jewelry ring is an item of jewelry including a plurality of rings.
- 13. A jewelry ring comprising:
an annular body having an axis of symmetry and inner and outer circumferences, said annular body made at least in part from a material selected from the group consisting of sintered metals and ceramics, said annular body including:
a first outer surface proximate a first axial extremity of said annular body; a second outer surface proximate a second axial extremity of said body opposite said first axial extremity; a third outer surface disposed between said first and second outer surfaces and extending around the outer circumference of said body and having an outer diameter; an inner surface extending around the inner circumference of said body between said first and said second axial extremity.
- 14. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said annular body has an axis of symmetry.
- 15. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said annular body comprises first and second components.
- 16. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said annular body comprises a plurality of components sharing a common axis of symmetry.
- 17. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said inner surface has a plurality of facets.
- 18. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said third outer surface has a generally cylindrical shape.
- 19. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said first outer surface comprises at least one facet.
- 20. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said second outer surface comprises at least one facet.
- 21. A jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said third outer surface comprises at least one facet.
- 22. A jewelry ring comprising:
an annular body having an axis of symmetry and inner and outer circumferences, and made of material selected from the group consisting of sintered metals and ceramics, said body including:
a first facet extending around the outer circumference of said body, and forming at least a portion of a first outer surface of said body proximate a first axial extremity thereof; a second facet extending around the outer circumference of said body, and forming at least a portion of a second outer surface of said body proximate a second axial extremity thereof opposite said first axial extremity, a cylindrically shaped third facet extending around the outer circumference of said body and having an outer diameter, and forming a third outer surface of said body disposed between said first and second facets, an inner surface of said body extending around the inner circumference of said body proximate said first or said second axial extremity.
- 23. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said inner surface comprises: a fourth facet extending around the inner circumference of said body and forming at least a portion of a first inner surface of said body proximate said first axial extremity, and a fifth facet extending around the inner circumference of said body, and forming at least a portion of a second inner surface of said body proximate said second axial extremity.
- 24. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein at least one of said first, second, and third facets comprise a frusto-conically shaped facet.
- 25. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said material is a least 80% tungsten carbide.
- 26. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said material is at least 80% zirconia.
- 27. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said ring further includes a gemstone affixed to said jewelry ring.
- 28. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said jewelry item further comprises a piece of metal attached to or formed integral with said jewelry ring.
- 29. The jewelry ring as in claim 13, wherein said jewelry item further comprises at least one of a precious metal, a stone, a gemstone, a crystal, or another material suitable for use in jewelry, and combinations thereof affixed thereto.
