Claims
- 1. A composition of superparamagnetic colloidal particles, wherein said particles (a) have an organic coating, (b) are conjugated to a specific binding partner, (c) have a lower size limit of 0.04 .mu.m and an upper size limit of 0.1 .mu.m, and (d) when exposed to a magnetic field have magnetizations such that the value of the magnetization in the composition varies less than 10%.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein when exposed to a magnetic field said particles have magnetizations such that the value of the magnetization in the composition varies less than 5%.
- 3. The particles of claim 1 wherein the particles are bound to a target material by said specific binding partner.
