- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the function is varied according to a position of the second head over the medium.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the servoing of the writing step (b) includes positioning the second head according to a function of a respective plurality of signals received from a respective plurality of burst tracks of the plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern to write said each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern.
- 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the function is varied for said each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern such that the equivalent spacings result between said each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern.
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the function includes respective weighting coefficients for each burst track of the respective plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern and wherein the function is varied by varying at least some of the track weighting coefficients.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the at least some of the respective weighting coefficients are varied according to a position of the second head over the medium.
- 12. The method of claim 1, wherein the first head and the second head are different heads.
- 13. A storage medium readable by a machine and tangibly embodying the product servo-pattern written according to claim 1.
- 14. A system for writing a product servo-pattern on a medium, comprising:
- (a) means for writing a propagation pattern on the medium including means for servoing a first head to write each of at least some of a plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern at unequal spacings therebetween; and
- (b) means for writing the product servo-pattern on the medium including means for servoing a second head to a respective at least one of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern to write each of at least some of a plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern, each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern having equivalent spacings therebetween.
- 15. The system of claim 14, wherein the means for servoing of the means for writing (a) includes means for positioning the first head by comparing a signal received from a respective previously written burst track of the plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern to a first reference level, the first reference level being held constant while writing the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern.
- 16. The system of claim 15, wherein the first head is manufactured or arranged in said system such that the unequal spacings result from holding the first reference level constant.
- 17. The system of claim 16, wherein the medium is a circular storage medium and the first head is mounted on a rotary actuator.
- 18. The system of claim 14, wherein the means for servoing of the means for writing (b) includes means for positioning the second head according to a function of a signal received from a respective burst track of the plurality of burst tracks of the propagation pattern, the function being varied for said each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern.
- 19. The system of claim 18, wherein the function is varied such that the equivalent spacings result between said each of the at least some of the plurality of burst tracks of the product servo-pattern.
