- 1. A method for separating and recovering an α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) comprising extracting the α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) with an organic solvent which is unreactive in basic conditions and insoluble in water from a mixture containing three compounds of an alkaline metal salt of ω-hydroxy-(ω-3)-ketoaliphatic acid represented by the general formula (5), an alkaline metal salt of a long-chain dicarboxylic acid represented by the general formula (8), and α,ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9), or selectively crystallizing the α,ω-dihydroxy-δ-(ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) from the mixture: wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13 and M is an alkaline metal; wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13 and M is an alkaline metal; and wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13.
- 2. A method for separating and recovering an alkaline metal salt of ω-hydroxy-(ω-3)-ketoaliphatic acid represented by the general formula (5) and an alkaline metal salt of a long-chain dicarboxylate represented by the general formula (8) comprising selectively crystallizing an alkaline metal salt of ω-hydroxy-(ω-3)-ketoaliphatic acid represented by the general formula (5) from a mixture prepared by separating and recovering an α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) comprising extracting the α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) with an organic solvent from a mixture containing three compounds of an alkaline metal salt of ω-hydroxy-(ω-3)-ketoaliphatic acid represented by the general formula (5), an alkaline metal salt of a long-chain dicarboxylic acid represented by the general formula (8), and α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9), or selectively crystallizing the α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) from the mixture: wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13 and M is an alkaline metal; wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13 and M is an alkaline metal; and wherein n is an integer of 7 to 13, of the alkaline metal salt of ω-hydroxy-(ω-3)-ketoaliphatic acid represented by the general formula (5) and the alkaline metal salt of long-chain dicarboxylic acid represented by the general formula (8) and separating the mixture into a cake and a filtrate by solid-liquid separation.
- 3. A method for separating and recovering an α, ω-dihydroxy-δ, (ω-3)-alkanedione represented by the general formula (9) according to claim 1, wherein the organic solvent is selected from the group of benzene, toluene, xylenet, tetraline, decalin, pentane, hexane, heptane, octane, cyclohexane, isopropyl ether and dibutyl ether.
