Claims
- 1. A method for using calibration beads to enhance the performance of a flow imaging system, comprising the steps of:
(a) selecting a calibration bead that has at least the properties of being sufficiently small so as to readily pass through the fluidics of the flow imaging system, and that when employed in sufficient quantity provides a reliable data signal during each update cycle of flow imaging system; (b) based on the flow imaging system parameters, providing a sufficient quantity and concentration of calibration beads; (c) introducing the sufficient quantity and concentration of calibration beads into the flow imaging system; (d) using the flow imaging system to collect data corresponding to the calibration beads, the data enabling the flow imaging system to reach a stable state; and (e) introducing a sample fluid including objects of interest into the flow imaging system, the stable state facilitated by the calibration beads enhancing the ability of the flow imaging system to collect data corresponding to objects of interest.
