Claims
- 1. A method of making a cDNA library, the method comprising:
(a) proliferating multipotent neural stem cells on an adherent substrate or in a suspension culture; and (b) obtaining said cDNA library from said proliferated multipotent neural stem cells.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the multipotent neural stem cells are obtained from a human.
- 3. A method of making a cDNA library, the method comprising:
(a) proliferating at least one multipotent neural stem cell derived from mammalian tissue in culture medium containing one or more growth factors that induce multipotent neural stem cell proliferation, wherein a single multipotent neural stem cell is capable of producing progeny that are capable of differentiating into neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes; (b) proliferating the at least one multipotent neural stem cell into a population of neural cells; and (c) obtaining said cDNA library from said neural cells.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the one or more growth factors comprises EGF.
- 5. The method of claim 3 wherein the one or more growth factors comprises EGF and FGF.
- 6. The method of claim 3, wherein the at least one multipotent neural stem cell is proliferated on an adherent substrate.
- 7. The method of claim 3, wherein the at least one multipotent neural stem cell is proliferated in a suspension culture.
- 8. The method of claim 3, wherein the at least one multipotent neural stem cell is obtained from a human.
- 9. A method of making a cDNA library, the method comprising obtaining cDNA from a culture of undifferentiated neural cells containing one or more multipotent neural stem cells, wherein said undifferentiated neural cells that stain positive for nestin and said undifferentiated neural cells lack differentiated neural cells that do not stain positive for nestin and that stain positive for the differentiated neural cell markers neurofilament, glial fibrillary acidic protein, neuron specific enolase, and myelin basic protein, the method comprising culturing the undifferentiated neural cells in a culture medium containing at least one proliferation-inducing growth factor.
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the undifferentiated neural cells are obtained from a human.
- 11. The method of claim 9, wherein the undifferentiated neural cells are proliferated on an adherent substrate.
- 12. The method of claim 9, wherein the undifferentiated neural cells are proliferated in a suspension culture.
- 13. The method of claim 9, wherein the undifferentiated neural cells are obtained from the frontal lobe, conus medullaris, thoracic spinal cord, brain stem, hypothalamus, lateral ventricles of the forebrain or subependymal region lining the lateral ventricles in the forebrain.
