Claims
- 1. A method of protecting a mammal against emesis which comprises administering to said mammal an anti-emesis effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of a 3-alkoxy-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide, the dioxides thereof, the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium salts thereof, said 3-alkoxy-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide having the formula: ##SPC5##
- in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are hydrogen, lower alkoxy, halogen, nitro or amino; B is lower alkyl or allyl; n is 1, 2 or 3; and A is mono lower alkylamino or di lower alkylamino.
- 2. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is a compound in which A of the formula is diethylamino.
- 3. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is a compound in which A of the formula is dimethylamino.
- 4. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is N-(diethylaminoethyl)-3-methoxy-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide.
- 5. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is N-(diethylaminoethyl)-3-methoxy-5-amino-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide.
- 6. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is N-(dimethylaminoethyl)-3-5-6-trimethoxy-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide.
- 7. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is N-(diethylaminoethyl)-1,1-dioxy-3-methoxy-thianaphthene-2-carboxamide.
- 8. The method of claim 1 in which said compound is a levo or dextro rotary isomer.
