Claims
- 1. A method for protecting industrial materials from attack by slime producing organisms which method comprises contacting the industrial material with an effective amount of a 2,5-substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole of the formula ##STR22## in which R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched halogenalkyl,
- R.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl and
- n is 1 or 2.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein in formula (I),
- R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -halogen-alkyl having 1 to 9 identical or different halogen atoms and
- R.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the industrial material is an adhesive, a glue, paper, cardboard, textile, leather, wood or paint.
- 4. A material for the protecting of an industrial material from attack by slime producing organisms which comprises from 1-95% by weight, relative to the total weight of the material, of a 2,5-substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole of the formula ##STR23## in which R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched halogenalkyl,
- R.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl and
- n is 1 or 2,
- and 99-5% by weight of customary extenders and diluents.
