Claims
- 1. A light duty liquid microemulsion composition comprising approximately by weight:
- (a) 2% to 20% of a mixture of a fully esterified ethoxylated polyhydric alcohol, an ethoxylated nonesterified polyhydric alcohol and an ethoxylated partially esterified ethoxylated polyhydric alcohol as depicted by the formulas: ##STR6## and ##STR7## wherein w equals one to four, B is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or a group represented by: ##STR8## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of alkyl group having about 6 to 22 carbon atoms, and alkenyl groups having about 6 to 22 carbon atoms, wherein at least one of the B groups is represented by said ##STR9## and R' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl groups; x, y and z have a value between 0 and 60, provided that (x+y+z) equals about 2 to about 100, wherein the ratio of monoester/diester/triester is 45 to 90/5 to 40/1 to 20, wherein the ratio of Formula (I) to Formula (II) is a value between about 1.5 to about 2;
- (b) 0-25% of a zwitterionic surfactant;
- (c) 5% to 26% of a sulfate surfactant selected from the group consisting of C8-18 alkyl sulfates and ethoxylated C8-C18 alkyl ether sulfates;
- (d) 0.4% to 10% of a perfume, essential oil or a water insoluble paraffin or isoparaffin having about 6 to 18 carbon atoms;
- (e) 0 to 25% of a cosurfactant selected from the group consisting of C1-C6 alkyl ethers and esters of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol having the formula R(X).sub.n OH and R.sub.1 (X).sub.n OH wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl group, R.sub.1 is a C2-C4 acyl group and X is (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2) or (OCH.sub.2 (CH.sub.3)CH) and n is a number from 1 to 4; and
- (f) the balance being water, said composition having a pH of 5-7.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 which further contains a salt of a multivalent metal cation in an amount sufficient to provide from 0.5 to 1.5 equivalents of said cation per equivalent of said sulfonate and sulfate surfactants.
- 3. The composition of claim 2 wherein the multivalent metal cation is magnesium or aluminum.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 further including 0.05 wt. % to 1.0 wt. % of an antibacterial agent.
- 5. The composition of claim 3 wherein said multivalent salt is magnesium sulfate.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 wherein the cosurfactant is selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol monobutylether, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, triethylene glycol monobutylether, dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, polypropylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from about 200 to 1,000, propylene glycol tert-butyl ether, mono, di, tri-propylene glycol monobutyl ether and polyethylene glycol and mixtures thereof.
- 7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the cosurfactant is dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether or diethylene glycol monomethyl ether.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the concentration of the zwitterionic surfactant is about 1 wt. % to about 20.0 wt. %.

This application is a continuation in part application of U.S. Ser. No. 8/514,977 filed Aug. 14, 1995 now abandoned which in turn is a continuation in part application of U.S. Ser. No. 8/392,569 filed Feb. 23, 1995 now U.S. Pat. No. 5,523,025.
