- 9. The method in accordance with claim 8 wherein said fluid comprises a liquid.
- 10. The method in accordance with claim 8 including the step of providing said support in the form of a plate having a first side, and a second side, and wherein said vanes extend from said first side.
- 11. The method in accordance with claim 10 including the step of providing one or more of said vanes extending from said second side of said plate.
- 12. The method in accordance with claim 8 including the step of providing said support with a generally circular outer periphery.
- 13. The method in accordance with claim 12 including the step of positioning said outer edges of said vanes near said periphery of said support.
- 14. The method in accordance with claim 8, including the step or providing vanes which are curved between said inner and outer edges.
- 15. A method of mixing fluid comprising:isolating a fluid to be mixed in a container; providing a mixing device comprising a shall extending along an axis, a support mounted for rotation by said shaft, a number of vanes having a first end and a second end, said first ends connected to said support and said second ends positioned outwardly of said support in a direction generally parallel to said axis, said vanes positioned radially outward from said axis, said vanes having an outer edge and an inner edgy;, said inner edge of said vanes sloping from said second end to said first end in a direction towards said axis, said inner edge of said vanes at said second end extending inwardly towards said axis no more than about 0.4 of the distance between the outer edge of said vanes and said axis and extending inwardly towards said axis no more than about 0.7 at said first end; positioning said device in said container containing fluid to be mixed; rotating said mixing device within said fluid in said container, whereby said fluid reaches a high radial velocity and is sheared as it impacts said vanes, and whereby a surface area of said vanes is enlarged at one or more areas thereof, providing for an increased fluid flow and mixing rate.
- 16. The method in accordance with claim 15, including the step of positioning one or more of said vanes no more than about 0.7 inches apart.
- 17. The method in accordance with claim 15, including the step of providing said a support in the form of a plate having a first side and a second side, and wherein said vanes extend from said first side.
- 18. The method in accordance with claim 17 including the step of providing one or more of said vanes extending from said second side of said plate.
- 19. The method in accordance with claim 15 including the step of providing said support with a generally circular outer periphery.
- 20. The method in accordance with claim 19 including the step of positioning said outer edges of said vanes near said periphery of said support.
- 21. The method in accordance with claim 15 including the step of providing vanes which are curved between said inner and outer edges.
