- 4. The improved mobile X-ray apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for locking the X-ray tube to the carriage comprises:
- at least one extremity projecting outwardly from the X-ray tube;
- an X-ray tube cradle positioned on the top of the carriage, the cradle having at least one slot therein for receiving the at least one extremity projecting outwardly from the X-ray tube; and
- means for locking the at least one extremity projecting outwardly from the X-ray tube in the at least one slot of the X-ray tube cradle when the X-ray tube is on the X-ray tube cradle.
- 5. The improved mobile X-ray apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for locking the X-ray tube to the Carriage comprises:
- a first and second extremity attached to and projecting outwardly from the X-ray tube, wherein the first extremity includes an opening therein;
- an X-ray tube cradle positioned on the top of the carriage, the cradle having a first and second slot therein, wherein the first slot is adapted to receive the first extremity and the second slot is adapted to receive the second extremity;
- a solenoid having a base and a plunger extendable from the base, the solenoid being positioned in the first slot so as to extend across the slot when the solenoid is de-energized;
- a limit switch having a base and a tripping means, the limit switch being positioned in the second slot so that the tripping means extends partly into the slot;
- means for energizing and de-energizing the solenoid; and whereby the X-ray tube may be locked to the X-ray tube cradle by extending the solenoid plunger through the opening in the first extremity thereby preventing the first extremity from being removed from the first slot.
- 6. A mobile X-ray apparatus comprising:
- a carriage;
- an articulating X-ray tube support arm attached to the carriage, said articulating X-ray tube support arm further comprising a plurality of pivotally coupled support appendages;
- an electro-magnetic actuated disk brake having a housing and a clamp collar, wherein the housing is positioned concentrically about a common shaft attached to one of two adjacent pivotally coupled X-ray tube support arm appendages and wherein the housing is attached to the other of two adjacent support arm appendages, and wherein the clamp collar is attached to the common shaft, whereby when the brake is applied, relative angular movement of the brake housing and the clamp collar is prevented which further prevents relative angular movement of the two adjacent support arm appendages.
- 7. The improved mobile X-ray apparatus of claim 6 further comprising:
