Claims
- 1. A fuel composition comprising a hydrocarbon boiling in the gasoline or diesel range and from about 10 to about 10,000 parts per million of a polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimide wherein one or more of the nitrogens of the polyamino moiety is substituted with: ##STR37## wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms excluding R.sub.4 groups wherein ##STR38## wherein R.sub.11 is the remainder of the R.sub.4 group; m is an integer of from 0 to 2; R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms; p is an integer of from 1 to 100; R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and hydrocarbyl of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; and with the proviso that if m is one or two, then R.sub.6 is hydrogen.
- 2. The fuel composition defined in claim 1 wherein the alkenyl or alkyl group is from about 20 to 300 carbon atoms.
- 3. The fuel composition defined in claim 2 wherein m is zero and R.sub.6 is hydrogen.
- 4. The fuel composition defined in claim 3 wherein p is an integer of from 1 to 30.
- 5. The fuel composition defined in claim 4 wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 6. The fuel composition defined in claim 5 wherein R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 7. A fuel composition comprising a hydrocarbon boiling in the gasoline or diesel range and from about 10 to about 10,000 parts per million of a compound of the formula: ##STR39## wherein R is alkenyl or alkyl of from 10 to 300 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 is alkylene of from 2 to 10 carbon atoms; a is an integer of from 0 to 10; R.sub.10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 hydroxyalkyl, (R.sub.5 O).sub.p H wherein R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms and p is an integer of from 0 to 100, and ##STR40## wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms excluding R.sub.4 groups wherein ##STR41## wherein R.sub.11 is the remainder of the R.sub.4 group, R.sub.5 is akylene from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, m is an integer of from 0 to 2, and p is an integer of from 0 to 100; R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and hdyrogen; T is selected from the group consisting of --NHR.sub.10 and ##STR42## wherein R and R.sub.10 are as defined above with the proviso that the compound contain at least one of R.sub.10 which is ##STR43## and with the further proviso that when m is 1 or 2 then R.sub.6 is hydrogen and R.sub.10 is not --(R.sub.5 O).sub.p H.
- 8. The fuel composition defined in claim 7 wherein R is alkenyl or alkyl of from about 20 to 300 carbon atoms.
- 9. The fuel composition defined in claim 8 wherein a is an integer of from 1 to 6 and R.sub.2 is alkylene of from 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
- 10. The fuel composition defined in claim 9 wherein m is zero and R.sub.6 is hydrogen.
- 11. The fuel composition defined in claim 10 wherein p is an integer of from 1 to 30 and R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 12. The fuel composition defined in claim 11 wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 13. A fuel concentrate comprising a stable oleophilic organic solvent boiling in the range of about 150.degree. to 400.degree. F. and from about 10 to 70 weight percent of a polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimide wherein one or more of the nitrogens of the polyamino moiety is substituted with: ##STR44## wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms excluding .sub.4 groups wherein ##STR45## wherein R.sub.11 is the remainder of the R.sub.4 group; m is an integer of from 0 to 2; R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms; p is an integer of from 1 to 100; R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and hydrocarbyl of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; and with the proviso that if m is one or two, then R.sub.6 is hydrogen.
- 14. A fuel concentrate comprising a stable inert oleophilic organic solvent boiling in the range of about 150.degree. to 400.degree. F. and from about 10 to 70 weight percent of a compound of the formula: ##STR46## wherein R is alkenyl or alkyl of from 10 to 300 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 is alkylene of from 2 to 10 carbon atoms; a is an integer of from 0 to 10; R.sub.10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.l -C.sub.6 hydroxyalkyl, --R.sub.5 O).sub.p H wherein R.sub.5 is alkylene of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms and p is an integer of from 0 to 100, and ##STR47## wherein R.sub.4 is alkylene of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms excluding R.sub.4 groups wherein ##STR48## wherein R.sub.11 is the remainder of the R.sub.4 group, R.sub.5 is alkylene from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, m is an integer of from 0 to 2, and p is an integer of from 0 to 100; R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and hydrogen; T is selected from the group consisting of --NHR.sub.10 and ##STR49## wherein R and R.sub.10 are as defined above with the proviso that the compound contain at least one of R.sub.10 which is ##STR50## and with the further proviso that when m is 1 or 2 then R.sub.6 is hydrogen and R.sub.10 is not --R.sub.5 O).sub.p H.
