Claims
- 1. In a centrifugally cast pipe of the type having a body of thermosetting plastic reinforced with a fibrous reinforcing material distributed essentially throughout said thermosetting plastic, the improvement which comprises an unreinforced lining on the inside diameter of said pipe of a flexible thermosetting resin comprising an admixture of (1) a neat thermosetting resin comprising the reaction product of an epoxy resin, a carboxyl terminated elastomer selected from the group consisting of carboxyl terminated homopolymers and copolymers of conjugated dienes and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, wherein approximately one chemical equivalent of epoxy is provided for each chemical equivalent of carboxyl provided by said elastomer and said acid combined, and (2) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer.
- 2. The pipe according to claim 1 wherein said resin forming said unreinforced inner lining comprises approximately 50 weight percent of said neat thermosetting resin and approximately 50 weight percent to said ethylenically unsaturated monomer.
- 3. The pipe according to claim 1 wherein said carboxyl terminated elastomer is selected from the group consisting of carboxyl terminated butadiene and a carboxyl terminated random copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile.
- 4. A centrifugally cast plastic pipe comprising an annular body of thermosetting plastic reinforced by a fibrous reinforcing material distributed essentially throughout the length and annular thickness of said body, and an unreinforced liner on the inside diameter of said body comprising a thermosetting resin admixture of (1) a neat thermosetting resin comprising the reaction product of an epoxy resin, a carboxyl terminated elastomer selected from the group consisting of carboxyl terminated homopolymers and copolymers of conjugated dienes and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, wherein approximately one chemical equivalent of carboxyl provided by said elastomer and said acid combined, and (2) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer.
- 5. The pipe according to claim 4 wherein the thickness of said unreinforced liner is approximately 0.0625 to 0.125 inches.
