Claims
- 1. A modular electrical conductor system comprising:at least one electrical carrier member, each carrier member including: a dielectric carrier shell having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of enclosed channels extending longitudinally therethrough, the carrier shell having, a first carrier end and a second carrier end; an electrical carrier conductor extending through each enclosed channel, each carrier conductor terminating proximate to the first carrier end and the second carrier end; at least one open channel extending longitudinally therethrough, the at least one open channel having a longitudinally extending opening to receive at least one conductor cable insertable laterally into the at least one open channel; and at least one electrical connector, each electrical connector including: a dielectric connector shell having a like plurality of connector channels to the carrier member extending longitudinally therethrough, the connector shell having a first connector end and a second connector end; and a connector conductor extending longitudinally through each connector channel, each connector conductor extending beyond each of the first and second connector ends; wherein each connector conductor is insertable into the at least one carrier member such that each connector conductor is in electrical contact with the respective carrier conductor in the carrier member.
- 2. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one connector further includes a cover adapted to encompass at least a portion of the at least one carrier member, the cover sealing a connection between the at least one carrier member and the at least one connector.
- 3. The modular electrical raceway according to claim 1, wherein the at least one conductor cable includes at least one of a co-axial cable, a telephone cable, a computer cable, and a stereo speaker cable.
- 4. The modular electrical raceway according to claim 1, wherein the connector further comprises a connection for at least one of a co-axial cable and a telephone cable.
- 5. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one electrical connector further includes one of at least one electrical outlet and a light fixture electrically connected to the connector conductors.
- 6. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, further comprising at least one electrical outlet adapted to be electrically connected to the at least one carrier member.
- 7. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 6, further comprising:a plurality of outlets including at least a first electrical power outlet and at least one of a first low voltage outlet, the at least first electrical power outlet being electrically connected to the at least one electrical connector; a plurality of cover members, each cover member adapted to cover one of the plurality of outlets, the cover member hingedly operable between an open position wherein the outlet is exposed and a closed position, wherein the outlet is covered; and an outlet connector adapted to electrically connect a low voltage cable to the at least first low voltage outlet.
- 8. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, further comprising an electrical outlet adapter adapted to connect the at least one carrier member to a double-outlet electrical outlet, the adapter comprising:a plate including first and second plate prongs, the plate being adapted to be inserted into the double-outlet electrical outlet such that the first plate prongs are electrically connected to a first electrical outlet and the second plate prongs are electrically connected to a second electrical outlet, the plate further including a like number of plate conductors as carrier conductors extending therefrom, the plate conductors electrically being connected to at least one of the first and second plate prongs, the plate further including a double-outlet plate outlet electrically connectable to the first and second plate prongs; and a cover adapted to be affixed over the plate, the cover including a like number of conductor receivers as plate conductors, each conductor receiver adapted to be electrically connected to a respective plate conductor, the cover further including a like number of cover conductors, each of the like number of cover conductors adapted to be electrically connected to a respective carrier conductor; and a cover plate hingedly connected to the cover, the cover plate being pivotable between a first, closed position covering the plate outlet and a second, open position exposing the plate outlet.
- 9. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one carrier member is severable at a sever location along a plane parallel to one of the first and second carrier ends, the at least one connector being insertable into the at least one carrier member at the sever location such that each connector conductor is electrically connected to a respective carrier conductor.
- 10. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one connector further comprises an extension portion extending from the connector between the first and second connector ends and terminating at an extension end, the extension portion having a like plurality of enclosed channels to the carrier member extending therethrough, each enclosed channel including an electrical extension conductor extending therethrough, a first end of each extension conductor electrically connected to a respective connector conductor and a second end of each extension conductor being adapted to be inserted into the at least one carrier member.
- 11. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 10, wherein the extension portion extends generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the connector.
- 12. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein a plane of the first connector end is generally perpendicular to a plane of the second connector end.
- 13. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein an angle formed by a plane of the first connector end and a plane of the second connector end is adjustable.
- 14. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the connector is flexible between the first and second connector ends.
- 15. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1, wherein the carrier shell is adapted to mount to a surface.
- 16. The modular electrical conductor system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one open channel is closable.
