Claims
- 1. A diaphragm for calling game animals, comprising:
- a game call device;
- a diaphragm coupled to the game call device, the diaphragm comprising a membrane material, the membrane material comprising a single layer and having a uniformly tapered variable thickness along a span of the membrane when the membrane material is in a relaxed, unstressed condition.
- 2. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material includes a first region and a second region, the first region being relatively thicker than the second region.
- 3. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material includes a first region and a second region, the first region being relatively thicker than the second region, the first region being located radially outwardly from the second region.
- 4. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 further comprising a peripheral rim circumscribing a majority of the membrane material.
- 5. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 further comprising an arcuate shaped edge, the edge becoming more arcuate shaped when the diaphragm is stretched over a game call device.
- 6. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material comprises a first region and a second region, the first region being relatively thicker than the second region, the first region surrounding a portion of the second region.
- 7. A diaphragm for calling game animals according to claim 1 further comprising a locking rim circumscribing the membrane material, the locking rim being securable about an inlet end of a game call to place the membrane material under a preselected tension.
- 8. A game call apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the game call device comprises a support shelf, the membrane material covering the support shelf.
- 9. A game call apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the game call comprises a support shelf, the support shelf having a generally V-shaped edge, the membrane material having an arcuate shaped vibrating edge for producing sound, the V-shaped edge of the support shelf and the arcuate edge of the membrane material directing air being introduced into the call toward a radially centralized position within the inlet end.
- 10. A game call apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material has a varying thickness from a point on the membrane material extending radially outwardly from the point.
- 11. A game call apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material has a varying thickness comprising relatively thinner portions of the membrane material being located radially inward of relatively thicker portions of the membrane material.
- 12. A game call apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the membrane material has an arcuate shaped vibrating free edge.
- 13. A diaphragm for calling game animals , comprising:
- a diaphragm for use in connection with a game call device, the diaphragm comprising a membrane material, the membrane material comprising single layer and having variable thickness when the membrane material is in a relaxed, unstressed condition;
- a peripheral rim circumscribing a majority of the membrane material and wherein the membrane material includes a free edge extending between two locations on the peripheral rim, the free edge being arcuate when the membrane material is in the relaxed, unstressed condition, the free edge defining an opening through which air is directed, the free edge vibrating when air is directed rough the opening to create sounds.
- 14. A game call, comprising:
- a game call device;
- a diaphragm removably coupled to the game call device, the diaphragm comprising a membrane material, the membrane material comprising a single layer and having variable thickness when the membrane material is in a relaxed, unstressed condition;
- a peripheral rim circumscribing a portion of the membrane material, the membrane material including a free edge extending between two locations on the peripheral rim, the free edge defining an opening through which air is directed, the free edge vibrating when air is directed through the opening to create sounds.
- 15. A diaphragm for calling game animals, comprising:
- a game call device;
- a diaphragm coupled to the game call device, the diaphragm comprising a membrane material, the membrane material comprising a single layer, the diaphragm comprising a free edge having a free edge length and a midpoint along the free edge length, the membrane material being relatively thinner toward the midpoint of the free edge length as compared to portions of the membrane material along the free edge located outward of the free edge midpoint when the membrane material is in a relaxed, unstressed condition.
