Claims
- 1. A mold station for a blow molding machine, said mold station comprising:
- (a) elongated, movable support means for supporting a first mold section and a second mold section, said mold sections movable toward and away from each other along a common axis located between said mold sections,
- (b) said first mold section being disposed on the support means such that the first mold section and the support means are relatively movable with respect to one another,
- (c) said second mold section being connected to the support means for movement therewith, said second mold section being connected to the support means by a trunnion extending transverse to said axis,
- (d) actuating means connected between the first mold section and the support means, said actuating means being operable for moving the support means so that the second mold section moves toward the first mold section, a predetermined distance said actuating means being connected to the first mold section and to the support means by respective trunnions extending transverse to said axis, and
- (e) synchronizer linkage means connected between the first mold section and the support means for concurrently moving the first mold section toward the second mold section by a distance equal to said predetermined distance in response to said actuating means, whereby the first mold section and second mold section are clamped together.
- 2. The mold station of claim 1 wherein the elongated support means includes elongated tie rod members and first and second pressure members affixed to proximate opposite ends of the tie rod members, said first pressure member being adjacent the first mold section and said second pressure member being adjacent the second mold section.
- 3. The mold station of claim 2 wherein the actuating means is connected between the first mold section and the first pressure member.
- 4. The mold station of claim 3 wherein the synchronizer linkage means is connected between the first mold section and the first pressure member.
- 5. The mold station of claim 3 wherein the second mold section is connected to the second pressure member by the trunnion extending transverse to said axis.
- 6. The mold station of claim 3 wherein the actuating means is connected to the first pressure member and the first mold section by the respective trunnions extending transverse to said axis.
- 7. The mold station of claim 4 wherein the synchronizer linkage includes a pivot and a pair of drag links of equal length, one drag link interconnecting the pivot and the first mold section and another drag link interconnecting the pivot and the first pressure member.
- 8. The mold station of claim 2 wherein the tie-rod members comprises upper tie-rod members and lower tie-rod members, said upper tie-rod members being in tension and the lower tie-rod members being in compression when the mold means are moved toward one another.
