Claims
- 1. A centrifuge, comprising:
a standpipe constructed and arranged to deliver fluid; and a vane assembly constructed and arranged to receive the fluid from said standpipe, said vane assembly including
a liner defining a liner cavity, and a plurality of vanes extending within said liner cavity, each of said vanes having a radially outer edge portion integrally formed with said liner and an opposite free edge, said vanes extend along said standpipe, said free edges of said vanes define a standpipe passage in which said standpipe is received.
- 2. The centrifuge of claim 1, further comprising:
a rotor shell provided around said vane assembly; and a base plate provided at one end of said vane assembly.
- 3. The centrifuge of claim 2, wherein:
said base plate has a frustoconical shape, and said vanes define a base plate cavity constructed and arranged to match the frustoconical shape of said base plate.
- 4. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein:
said shell has a domed portion with an inside surface; and said vanes are constructed and arranged to conform to said inside surface of said domed portion.
- 5. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein said liner has a frustoconical shape.
- 6. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein:
said standpipe has an annular flange extending therefrom; and said standpipe passage is sized to clear said flange during insertion and removal of said vane assembly.
- 7. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein said vane assembly includes a stiffening ring constructed and arranged to stiffen said vanes.
- 8. The centrifuge of claim 7, wherein said ring is attached at one end of said vane assembly.
- 9. The centrifuge of claim 7, wherein:
said standpipe has an outwardly extending flange; said standpipe passage is sized to clear said flange; and said stiffening ring has a lip portion supported on said flange.
- 10. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein said liner has a slit defined therein to facilitate removal of said vane assembly.
- 11. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein said vane assembly is made of an incinerable plastic.
- 12. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein each of said vanes has a hyper-spiral shape.
- 13. The centrifuge of claim 1, wherein said standpipe defines in part a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, said stand pipe further includes a screen covering said fluid outlet.
- 14. A spiral vane assembly for a centrifuge with a standpipe adapted to supply fluid, comprising:
an annular liner having an inside surface, said liner encircling a central axis of rotation; and a plurality spiral vanes each having a radially outer edge portion integrally formed with said liner and a free edge positioned radially inward and opposite said outer edge portion, said vanes extending along said axis, said free edges of said spiral vanes defining a central passage constructed and arranged to receive the standpipe of the centrifuge.
- 15. The spiral vane assembly of claim 1, further comprising a stiffening ring constructed and arranged to stiffen said vanes.
- 16. The spiral vane assembly of claim 1, wherein said liner and said vanes are made of an incinerable plastic.
