Claims
- 1. A molding machine, comprising:
- a sand mold forming station, the sand mold forming station adapted to produce a plurality of sand molds;
- a weight and jacket installation station adjacent the sand mold forming station, supportive weights and jackets being installed on the sand molds at the weight and jacket installation station;
- a pouring station adjacent the weight and jacket installation station, a linear pouring conveyor connecting the weight and jacket installation station to the pouring station, molten material being deposited in the sand molds at the pouring station;
- a weight and jacket removal station adjacent the pouring station, the weights and jackets being removed from the sand molds at the removal station;
- a cooling station adjacent the weight and jacket removal station, the cooling station having a plurality of trays disposed on at least one linear cooling conveyor, the cooling conveyor having an adjustable number of trays, the trays adapted to receive a plurality of sand molds; and
- a discharge station disposed adjacent the cooling station, the discharge station having a mechanism for removing the sand molds from the trays.
- 2. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein the sand molds move incrementally along the pouring conveyor and into the trays, and the trays move incrementally along the cooling conveyor.
- 3. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein the sand molds have four sides, a top, and a bottom, the jackets are dimensioned to fit around the sides of the sand molds, and the weights are dimensioned to fit onto the top of the sand molds.
- 4. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein each cooling tray includes an elongated base, a front, a back, an open top, and first and second open sides, the front and back including angled edges, the angled edges deflecting any sand which falls from the sand molds inward, to thereby retain the sand within each respective tray.
- 5. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein the sand molds are transferred from the pouring conveyor to the cooling conveyor by a pusher arm, the pusher arm being adapted to move in predetermined stroke lengths, the length of each stroke being determined by proximity switches, the spacing between the sand molds on any tray thereby being adjustable to allow for adequate and uniform cooling by adjusting the locations of the proximity switches.
- 6. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein the pouring conveyor includes an upper and a lower track, the upper track receiving the sand molds from the sand mold forming station and conveying the sand molds to the pouring station, the lower track receiving the sand molds from the upper track and communicating the sand molds back to the upper track.
- 7. The molding machine of claim 6, further including first and second elevators, the first elevator lowering the sand molds from the upper to the lower track, the second elevator lifting the sand molds from the lower to the upper track.
- 8. The molding machine of claim 1, wherein the cooling conveyor includes upper and lower tracks, the upper track receiving the sand molds from the pouring conveyor, the lower track receiving the trays from the upper track and communicating the trays back to the upper track.
- 9. The molding machine of claim 8, further including third and fourth elevators, the third elevator lowering the trays from the upper to the lower tracks, the fourth elevator lifting the trays from the lower to the upper track.
