Claims
- 1. An elongate molding blank for forming a cavity in the wall of an orthosis during thermoforming of the orthosis, the molding blank comprising:
a body having a first end and a second end; a cut indicator in the body of the molding blank, the cut indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the cut indicator providing an indication of where the partially formed orthosis should be cut to form a two-part orthosis; a grind indicator in the body of the molding blank, the grind indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the grind indicator providing an indication of how much of an edge of the orthosis should be removed during processing of the orthosis.
- 2. The elongate molding blank of claim 1, wherein the cut indicator comprises a hole though the body of the molding blank.
- 3. The elongate molding blank of claim 1, wherein the grind indicator comprises a horizontal bar across the body of the molding blank.
- 4. The elongate molding blank of claim 1, further comprising a recess configured to elongate a tool for removing at least a portion of the molding blank from the orthosis.
- 5. The elongate molding blank of claim 1, the molding blank comprising a first side configured for contact with the mold during thermal forming, wherein the first side has a smaller surface area than an interior cross sectional area of a cross section of the molding blank taken parallel to the first side.
- 6. The elongate molding blank of claim 1, wherein the molding blank has a first surface configured to face a mold during thermoforming of an orthosis, and the molding blank tapers from a wider area distal from the first surface to narrower area proximate the first surface.
- 7. An elongate molding blank for forming a cavity in the wall of an orthosis during thermoforming of the orthosis on a mold, the molding blank tapering from a wider cross section distal from the mold to narrower cross section proximate the mold.
- 8. The elongate molding blank of claim 7, further comprising a cut indicator in the body of the molding blank, the cut indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the cut indicator providing an indication of where the partially formed orthosis should be cut to form a two-part orthosis.
- 9. The elongate molding blank of claim 8, wherein the cut indicator comprises a hole though the body of the molding blank.
- 10. The elongate molding blank of claim 7, further comprising a grind indicator in the body of the molding blank, the grind indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the grind indicator providing an indication of how much of an edge of the orthosis should be removed during processing of the orthosis
- 11. The elongate molding blank of claim 10, wherein the grind indicator comprises a horizontal bar across the body of the molding blank.
- 12. The elongate molding blank of claim 7, further comprising a recess configured to elongate a tool for removing at least a portion of the molding blank from the orthosis.
- 13. The elongate molding blank of claim 7, wherein the molding blank includes a flared end configured to prevent removal of the molding blank from the interior of a cavity in an orthosis.
- 14. The elongate molding blank of claim 7, wherein the molding blank is configured to be cut in half and have both halves removed from an orthosis to create two cavities for bumper heads of a bumper stop.
- 15. An elongate molding blank for forming a cavity in the wall of an orthosis during thermoforming of the orthosis, the molding blank comprising:
a body having a first end and a second end; a cut indicator in the body of the molding blank, the cut indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the cut indicator providing an indication of where the partially formed orthosis should be cut to form a two-part orthosis, wherein the cut indicator comprises a hole though the body of the molding blank; a grind indicator in the body of the molding blank, the grind indicator visible after forming of the wall of the orthosis, the grind indicator providing an indication of how much of an edge of the orthosis should be removed during processing; a recess configured to elongate a tool for removing at least a portion of the molding blank from the orthosis; and the molding blank comprising a first side configured for contact with the mold during thermal forming, wherein the first side has a smaller surface area than an interior cross sectional area of a cross section of the molding blank taken parallel to the first side.
