Claims
- 1. A composition of matter having the formula A.sub.a (XR.sub.4).sub.b (H.sub.3 O).sub.c [Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].dH.sub.2 O where A is Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Tl, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, NH.sub.4 or combinations thereof; R=H, C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 ; where n is an integer .ltoreq.4, or combinations thereof; X=N, P, As or combinations thereof; Mo has an oxidation state of less than or equal to +5; a, b, c and d are greater than or equal to zero and the amounts of a, b and c are such that their sum equals +1 to balance the one negative charge on the molydenum phosphate framework.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein a=0.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein Mo has an oxidation state of 5+.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (H.sub.3)[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].
- 5. The composition of claim 1 having the formula Cs[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].H.sub.2 O.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (CH.sub.3 NH.sub.3)[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].H.sub.2 O.
- 7. The composition of claim 1 wherein A is an alkali or alkaline earth metal cation.
- 8. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (NH.sub.4)[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].
- 9. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (CH.sub.3).sub.2 NH.sub.2 [Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].
- 10. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (CH.sub.3).sub.4 N[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].
- 11. The composition of claim 1 having the formula (CH.sub.3).sub.3 NH[Mo.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 (OH).sub.2 ].
