Claims
- 1. An in situ field-applied monolithic roofing surface membrane comprising:
a first layer of a spontaneously curable polymer, said first layer including a second layer of a mesh imbedded therein, said mesh including a plurality of fibers separated by recesses therebetween, wherein said curable polymer contacts through said recesses with said mesh and surrounds said fibers of said mesh, and, said first and second layers being covered by a waterproof and ultraviolet resistant coating.
- 2. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said curable polymer is low rise polyurethane adhesive.
- 3. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said curable polymer is polyurethane foam.
- 4. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said mesh is a fabric.
- 5. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 4 wherein said fabric is a woven polyester.
- 6. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 4 wherein said fabric is a non-woven polyester.
- 7. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said mesh is a fiberglass mesh.
- 8. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said mesh comprises aramid.
- 9. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said mesh comprises nylon.
- 10. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said third layer of a waterproof and ultraviolet coating is a silicone coating composition.
- 11. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 8 wherein said silicone coating composition comprises a composition comprising a siloxane.
- 12. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 1 wherein said monolithic roofing surface membrane is between about one quarter (¼) and about 2 inches in thickness.
- 13. The monolithic roofing surface membrane as in claim 12 wherein said roofing substrate is between about one quarter (¼) inch in thickness.
- 14. A method of making a monolithic roofing surface membrane for a roof comprising the steps of:
applying a first layer of a spontaneously curable polymer upon a roof surface; during said spontaneous curing of said curable polymer, applying a second layer of a mesh over said curable polymer, permitting said curable polymer to rise through and over a predetermined plurality of recesses separating a plurality of fibers within said mesh, thereby imbedding said mesh therebetween; applying a third layer of a waterproof and ultraviolet coating composition over said first and second layers; and, allowing said curable polymer to cure into a hardened state and become inseparable and monolithic.
