Claims
- 1. A transceiver, comprising:a transceiver body including transceiver electrical contacts on one side thereof; and a first mateable electrical connector including first connector electrical contacts on a first side thereof for electrically coupling with said transceiver electrical contacts and including second connector electrical contacts on a second side thereof for mechanically and electrically coupling with printed wire assembly electrical contacts on a printed wire assembly and for mounting said transceiver on said printed wire assembly, wherein said transceiver is capable of being mounted on said printed wire assembly solely by pressing said transceiver against said printed wire assembly in one direction substantially non-parallel to the plane of said printed wire assembly.
- 2. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver is a parallel optical transceiver.
- 3. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver is mounted on said printed wire assembly proximal to a chassis wall.
- 4. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver is mounted on said printed wire assembly and said transceiver extends through a chassis wall opening.
- 5. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver comprises mounting sockets for mechanically coupling said transceiver with said printed wire assembly.
- 6. The transceiver of claim 5, wherein said mounting sockets are configured to receive therein a screw for securing said transceiver to said printed wire assembly.
- 7. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver comprises at least one region on a bottom surface thereof configured to receive therein a screw for securing said transceiver to said printed wire assembly.
- 8. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said transceiver comprises securing means for mechanically coupling said transceiver with said printed wire assembly.
- 9. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said first electrical contacts allow said transceiver to be mounted on said printed wire assembly when said transceiver is pressed against the printed wire assembly in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane of the printed wire assembly.
- 10. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said first electrical contacts comprises a two-dimensional array of electrical contacts.
- 11. The transceiver of claim 1, wherein said first electrical contacts comprise a ball grid array.
- 12. A transceiver, comprising:a transceiver body; and a first mateable electrical connector including first electrical contacts on a first side of said transceiver for mechanically and electrically coupling with second electrical contacts on a printed wire assembly and for mounting said transceiver on said printed wire assembly, wherein said transceiver is capable of being mounted on said printed wire assembly solely by pressing said transceiver against said printed wire assembly in one direction substantially non-parallel to the plane of the printed wire assembly, wherein said second electrical contacts are part of a second mateable electrical connector mounted on said printed wire assembly, and wherein said second mateable electrical connector is capable of mating with said first mateable electrical connector.
- 13. A transceiver, comprising:a transceiver body including transceiver electrical contacts on one side thereof; and a first mateable electrical connector including first electrical contacts on a first side of thereof for electrically coupling with said transceiver electrical contacts and including second connector electrical contacts on a second side thereof for mechanically and electrically coupling a printed wire assembly and for removably mounting said transceiver on said printed wire assembly, wherein said transceiver is capable of being mounted on said printed wire assembly solely by pressing said transceiver against said printed wire assembly in one direction substantially non-parallel to the plane, of said printed wire assembly, wherein said second connector electrical contacts comprise a ball grid array.
- 14. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver is a parallel optical transceiver.
- 15. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver is mounted on said printed wire assembly proximal to a chassis wall.
- 16. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver is mounted on said printed wire assembly and said transceiver extends through a chassis wall opening.
- 17. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver comprises mounting sockets for mechanically coupling said transceiver with said printed wire assembly.
- 18. The transceiver of claim 17, wherein said mounting sockets are configured to receive therein a screw for securing said transceiver to said printed wire assembly.
- 19. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver comprises at least one region on a bottom surface thereof configured to receive therein a screw for securing said transceiver to said printed wire assembly.
- 20. The transceiver of claim 13, wherein said transceiver comprises securing means for mechanically coupling said transceiver with said printed wire assembly.
