In reference to FIGS. 1 through 10, the present invention is a mounting apparatus that allows a user to attach or detach portable devices to various surfaces or objects such as, but not limited to, outdoor equipment. To accomplish the above-mentioned functionalities, the present invention comprises an anchoring base 1, a portable device 2, and an interconnecting fastener 3. The anchoring base 1 is a structural support that can be mounted to various surfaces or objects through a fastening mechanism. The portable device 2 can be any device such as a beverage container, a food container, a speaker, a flashlight, a utensil holder, an accessory device, etc.

The general configuration of the aforementioned components allows a user to attach or detach a beverage container to various surfaces or objects such as outdoor equipment using the present invention. In the preferred embodiment, the anchoring base 1 comprises a first base face 1a and a second base face 1b, wherein the first base face 1a and the second base face 1b are positioned opposite to each other about the anchoring base 1. More specifically, the first base face 1a constitutes an upper surface of the anchoring base 1, and the second base face 1b constitutes a lower surface of the anchoring base 1. As seen in FIG. 1 through FIG. 10, the portable device 2 comprises a cylindrical base portion 4, a first end 2a, and a second end 2b. Preferably, the first end 2a is positioned opposite to the second end 2b across a length of the portable device 2. In other words, the first end 2a constitutes a top end of the portable device 2 and the second end 2b constitutes a bottom end of the portable device 2. In the preferred embodiment, the cylindrical base portion 4 is the portion of the portable device 2 that fits within the anchoring base 1 to form a stable yet detachable connection. In other words, any portable device that has dimensions matching into to the first base face 1a of the anchoring base 1 and has the interconnecting fastener 3 integrated between the cylindrical base portion 4 and the anchoring base 1, may be attached or detached onto an outdoor equipment or other surfaces through the anchoring base 1. However, it should be noted that, the anchoring base and a terminal end of the portable device with any other size and shape will fall under the scope of the present invention, as long as the intents of the present invention are not altered.

In order to establish a stable connection, the interconnecting fastener 3 is detachably connected between the first base face 1a and the cylindrical base portion 4 of the portable device 2. In the preferred embodiment, the interconnecting fastener 3 comprises threaded apertures and a threaded protrusions mechanism that allows users to form a stable connection by twisting or rotating the portable device along the threading. However, the interconnecting fastener 3 may comprise any other shape, components, arrangement of components, fastening technology, etc. that are known to one of ordinary skill in the art, as long as the intents of the present invention are not altered. Examples of which include, but are not limited to, key-locking mechanism, a magnetic mechanism, snap mechanism, etc. As seen in FIG. 2, the interconnecting fastener 3 comprises a device interlocking portion 5 and a base interlocking portion 6. Preferably, the device interlocking portion 5 is integrated adjacent the second end 2b of the portable device 2, and the base interlocking portion 6 is integrated into the first base face 1a. In other words, a second fastening mechanism is integrated onto the bottom surface of the anchoring base 1, to attach the anchoring base 1 to an external mounting surface.

A more detailed description of the present invention follows.

According to the preferred embodiment, and as seen in FIG. 2, the base interlocking portion 6 comprises an inner sidewall 8, a plurality of protrusions 9, and a base cavity 10. Preferably, the plurality of protrusions 9 is laterally connected to the inner sidewall 8 of the anchoring base 1, and the plurality of protrusions 9 is radially distributed around the inner sidewall 8 of the anchoring base 1. In other words, the plurality of protrusions 9 of the interconnecting fastener 3 protrude outwards from within the inner surface of the anchoring base 1. Further, the base cavity 10 is centrally integrated into the first base face. In order for the interconnecting fastener 3 to work effectively, the device interlocking portion 5 comprises a plurality of protrusion-receiving channels 11, a plurality of interlocking channels 12, and a circular base 13. Accordingly, as seen in FIG. 4, the circular base 13 is centrally integrated into the portable device 2, and the plurality of protrusion-receiving channels 11 and the plurality of interlocking channels 12 traverse laterally into the cylindrical base portion 4 of the portable device 2. This arrangement is so that the plurality of protrusion receiving channels 11 and the plurality of protrusions 9 engage effectively to create a strong interconnection. As seen in FIG. 2 and FIG. 4, the plurality of interlocking channels 12 is thinner than the protrusion-receiving channels 11, and the plurality of interlocking channels 12 extend continuously from the plurality of protrusion-receiving channels 11 along the curvature of the cylindrical base portion 4. This arrangement allows the portable device 2 to be rotated when the plurality of protrusions 9 is within the protrusion-receiving channel 11 and further creates a locked engagement when the plurality of protrusions 9 are within the plurality of interlocking channels 12. Furthermore, the shape of the channels and remaining portion of the cylindrical base portion 4 restricts the rotation of the portable device after the plurality of protrusions 9 are engaged within the plurality of interlocking channels 12.

In the preferred embodiment, the anchoring base 1 and the portable device 2, can be arranged in an engaged configuration when the portable device 2 is prepared to be fully secured or removed from the anchoring base. To that end, wherein the anchoring base 1 and the portable device 2 are in an engagement configuration, the circular base 13 of the portable device 2 is pressed into the base cavity 10 and each of the plurality of protrusions 9 is positioned into a corresponding channel from the plurality of protrusion-receiving channels 11.

Continuing with the preferred embodiment, the anchoring base 1, the portable device 2, and the interconnecting fastener 3 may be arranged into a locked configuration when the portable device 2 is fully secured to the anchoring base 1. To that end, wherein the anchoring base 1, and the portable device 2 are in a locked configuration, each of the plurality of protrusions 9 is positioned within the interlocking channel 12, and the circular base 13 of the portable device 2 is pressed into the base cavity 10. Further, as seen in FIG. 6, the plurality of protrusions 9 is interspersed amongst the plurality of protrusion-receiving channels 11. This arrangement prevents each of plurality of protrusions 9 from being disengaged from the anchoring base 1. Thus, the portable device 2 can only be detached from the anchoring base 1 by rotating the portable device 2 in the opposite direction.

As seen in FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 9, the present invention comprises a plurality of apertures 14. Preferably, the plurality of apertures 14 traverses through the base cavity and the plurality of apertures 14 is radially distributed around the second base face 1b. As seen in FIG. 2, the plurality of apertures 14 is laterally offset from plurality of protrusions 9. This is so that the plurality of apertures 14 may act as accessibility ports and enables easy decoupling or detachment of the anchoring base 1 from an external surface.

As seen in FIG. 1 through FIG. 9, the present invention comprises a plurality of depressions 15. Preferably, the plurality of depressions 15 is laterally integrated along the anchoring base 1. More specifically, the plurality of depressions 15 is distributed around an outer sidewall 16 of the anchoring base 1. This arrangement is so that the plurality of depressions 15 acts as ergonomic grips for the anchoring base 1.

In the preferred embodiment, the portable device 2 is a beverage container. Accordingly, as seen in FIG. 10, the present invention may comprise a sealing cover 17 for temperature control of the beverage, protecting the beverage from outside elements and/or spillage. To that end, the sealing cover 17 is removably attached onto the first end 2a of the portable device 2.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
