MRI: Acquisition of a GC/MS to Facilitate Interdisciplinary Ecotoxicology and Analytical Research and Teaching at Arkansas State University

1040466
Bouldin

The requested instrumentation, Gas Chromatograph Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer with an Electron Capture Detector, dual injection ports, and dual columns, will function as an interdisciplinary Ecotoxicological and Environmental Analytical Laboratory at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro Campus. This laboratory will support research activities and teaching in the areas of ecotoxicology, environmental and analytical chemistry, biology, soil science, biogeochemistry, and wildlife ecology. The focus of this laboratory will be the identification and quantification of organic constituents in environmental media and will complement the inorganic environmental analytical capabilities currently at ASU-Jonesboro. Initially, the instrumentation will be used in seven cross-disciplinary research projects, and will play an important role in acquiring nationally competitive funding for several multi-scale projects in the near future.
