Claims
- 1. An ink-jet printing apparatus, comprising:
- a printhead portion having at least three ejector portions;
- a reservoir portion comprising at least three ink chambers, each ink chamber for providing ink to one of the at least three ejector portions, two of the ink chambers each chamber including one of a first mutually reactive ink and a second mutually reactive ink, and the other ink chamber including an ink non-reactive with the first and second mutually reactive inks.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the printhead portion and the reservoir portion form an integral print cartridge.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the reservoir portion is adapted to be releasably mounted to the printhead portion.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the printhead portion includes at least three fluid inlets, and the reservoir portion includes at least three corresponding fluid outlets configured for connection to the three fluid inlets.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the ejector portion for ejecting the non-reactive ink is positioned between the two ejector portions for the first and second mutually reactive inks.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 further comprising a fourth ink reactive with the first mutually reactive ink.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a scanning carriage that supports the printhead portion and provides relative motion between the printhead portion and a print media.
- 8. An ink delivery apparatus for providing ink to an ink-jet printing system, the ink delivery apparatus comprising:
- an integral reservoir portion having a plurality of ink chambers containing a plurality of inks including at least two mutually reactive inks and an ink non-reactive to said at least two mutually reactive inks.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the reservoir portion includes at least three fluid outlets for providing the at least two mutually reactive inks and the non-reactive ink to three fluid inlets associated with the printing system, the fluid outlets providing the mutually reactive inks are separated by the fluid outlet providing the non-reactive ink, thereby minimizing the mixing of the mutually reactive inks.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the printing system includes a printhead portion, and wherein the integral reservoir portion is adapted to be releasably mountable to the printhead portion to make the mutually reactive inks available to the printhead portion.
- 11. An ink delivery apparatus, comprising:
- a plurality of ink chambers containing a plurality of inks, the plurality of inks including two mutually reactive inks and an ink non-reactive with the at least two mutually reactive inks.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the plurality of ink chambers form an integral reservoir portion.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein one of the mutually reactive inks is black.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein the other mutually reactive inks is magenta or yellow.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein the non-reactive ink is cyan.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising a fourth ink reactive with one of the two mutually reactive inks.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the two mutually reactive inks are black and magenta, the non-reactive ink is cyan, and the fourth ink is yellow, and wherein the fourth ink is reactive with black and non-reactive with magenta.
- 18. An ink delivery apparatus for an ink-jet printing system, the ink delivery apparatus comprising:
- a plurality of ink chambers for providing ink to an integral ink-jet printhead portion, each ink chamber containing one of a plurality of inks to be provided to one of a plurality of corresponding ejector portions associated with the integral printhead portion, the plurality of the inks including at least two mutually reactive inks and an ink non-reactive to said at least two mutually reactive inks.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18 wherein the ejector portions for ejecting the non-reactive ink are positioned between the two ejector portions for ejecting the at least two mutually reactive inks.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 18 wherein the plurality of ink chambers include at least three fluid outlets for providing the at least two mutually reactive inks and the non-reactive ink to three fluid inlets associated with the printing system, the fluid outlets providing the mutually reactive inks are separated by the fluid outlet providing the non-reactive ink, thereby minimizing the mixing of the mutually reactive inks.
