Claims
- 1. A multi-functional cargo bed liner assembly for a cargo bed of a vehicle comprising:
a first and a second side wall disposed in a transversely spaced relationship, wherein said first and second side walls each include an integrally formed guide track extending longitudinally; an end wall extending therebetween said first and second side walls at a first end; a floor extending therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said first and second side walls, end wall and floor are integral and formed as one piece; a movable divider panel supported within said integral guide track by a support means, and extending transversely therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said divider panel includes a positioning mechanism for fixedly locating the divider panel along said integral guide track.
- 2. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said side wall further comprises a fixed side wall and a side extension wall slidably attached to said fixed side wall, such that said side extension wall extends out over a lowered tailgate of the vehicle to cooperately increase a length dimension of the cargo bed.
- 3. An assembly as set forth in claim 2 wherein said fixed side wall includes a lower section, a midsection and an upper section, and said midsection forms a channel for slidably positioning said side extension wall with respect to said fixed side wall.
- 4. An assembly as set forth in claim 3, wherein said lower section of said fixed side wall includes a plurality of indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing a position of the divider panel.
- 5. An assembly as set forth in claim 4 wherein said upper section of said fixed side wall includes a back wall that is generally planar and a front wall attached to said back wall, to define a storage area.
- 6. An assembly as set forth in claim 5 wherein said front wall includes an access opening.
- 7. An assembly as set forth in claim 6 wherein said front wall includes a door covering the access opening.
- 8. An assembly as set forth in claim 5 wherein a lower edge of said front wall forms a lip, and a flange extends from an edge of said lip to form a portion of said integral guide track.
- 9. An assembly as set forth in claim 8, wherein said flange includes a longitudinally extending guide slot for receiving a guide means for positioning of the side extension wall relative to the fixed side wall.
- 10. An assembly as set forth in claim 9, wherein the guide means projects from the side extension wall and travels within the guide slot in said flange.
- 11. An assembly as set forth in claim 10, wherein said guide means is a bolt.
- 12. An assembly as set forth in claim 8 wherein said side extension wall includes an upper flange extending from an upper edge to form another portion of said integrated guide track.
- 13. An assembly as set forth in claim 12 wherein said side extension wall includes a forward section that is not integral with the floor, and a rearward section that is integral with the floor, and both the forward section and rearward section include a plurality of indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing the position of the divider panel whereby an upper end of the indexing grooves forms a gear track for said integral guide track.
- 14. An assembly as set forth in claim 13 wherein a lower flange extends from a lower edge of said rearward section, to position the side extension wall with respect to the fixed side wall.
- 15. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein a lower edge of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed groove extending longitudinally, to provide a lower track for slidably receiving a lower flange extending from a lower edge of said extension wall, for positioning the side extension wall relative to said fixed said wall.
- 16. An assembly as set forth in claim 15 wherein said side extension wall includes an inner panel joined to an outer panel.
- 17. An assembly as set forth in claim 16, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 18. An assembly as set forth in claim 17 wherein said lower track of said fixed side wall includes a radially extending locking groove for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism.
- 19. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, further comprising a tailgate panel having a generally planar shape, and fixedly attached to the tailgate, wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed groove forming a lower track for guiding said side extension wall over said tailgate panel.
- 20. An assembly as set forth in claim 19, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 21. An assembly as set forth in claim 20 wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed locking groove extending radially from said track, for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism when the side extension wall is in an extended position with the tailgate in a lowered position.
- 22. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said positioning mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a block slidingly extending from a side of said divider panel, and actuating said handle operatively retracts said block for repositioning said divider panel.
- 23. An assembly as set forth in claim 22 wherein said positioning mechanism is disposed within said divider panel and includes an upper handle operatively connected to a center lever that is operatively connected to a positioning block extending therethrough an opening in a side of said divider panel, said positioning mechanism being operable to bias said positioning block between a locked position, wherein said positioning block is engaged within an indexing groove in the said side wall for retaining said divider panel in a fixed position, to a retracted position wherein said divider panel is movable.
- 24. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said floor includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 25. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said end wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 26. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein said tailgate panel includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 27. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said divider panel is articulatable.
- 28. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said support means for said divider panel is a rod extending transversely, with a wheel attached at each end of the rod.
- 29. A multi-functional cargo bed liner assembly for a cargo bed of a vehicle comprising:
a first and a second side wall disposed in a transversely spaced relationship, wherein said first and second side walls includes a fixed side wall and a side extension wall slidably attached to said fixed side wall, such that said side extension wall is extendable out over a lowered tailgate of the vehicle to cooperately increase a length dimension of the cargo bed; an end wall extending therebetween said first and second side walls at a first end; a floor extending therebetween said first and second side walls; a longitudinally extending integral guide track disposed in said fixed side wall and said side extension wall; a movable divider panel supported within said integral guide track by a support means, and extending transversely therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said divider panel includes a positioning mechanism for fixedly locating the divider panel.
- 30. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said fixed side wall includes a lower section, a midsection and an upper section, and said midsection forms a channel for slidably positioning said side extension wall with respect to said fixed side wall.
- 31. An assembly as set forth in claim 30, wherein said lower section of said fixed side wall includes a plurality of indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing a position of said divider panel.
- 32. An assembly as set forth in claim 31 wherein said upper section of said fixed side wall includes a back wall that is generally planar and a front wall attached to said back wall, to define a storage area.
- 33. An assembly as set forth in claim 32 wherein said front wall includes an access opening.
- 34. An assembly as set forth in claim 33 wherein said front wall includes a door covering the access opening.
- 35. An assembly as set forth in claim 31 wherein a lower edge of said front wall forms a lip, and a flange extends from an edge of said lip to form a portion of said integral guide track.
- 36. An assembly as set forth in claim 35, wherein said flange includes a longitudinally extending guide slot for receiving a guide means for positioning the side extension wall relative to the fixed side wall.
- 37. An assembly as set forth in claim 36, wherein the guide means projects from the side extension wall and travels within the guide slot in said flange.
- 38. An assembly as set forth in claim 37, wherein said guide means is a bolt.
- 39. An assembly as set forth in claim 35 wherein said side extension wall includes an upper flange extending from an upper edge to form another portion of said integrated guide track.
- 40. An assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said side extension wall includes a forward section that is not integral with the floor, and a rearward section that is integral with the floor, and both the forward section and rearward section include a plurality of indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing the position of the divider panel whereby an upper end of the indexing grooves a gear track for said integral guide track.
- 41. An assembly as set forth in claim 40 wherein a lower flange extends from a lower edge of said rearward section, to position the side extension wall with respect to the fixed side wall.
- 42. An assembly as set forth in claim 29, wherein a lower edge of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed groove extending longitudinally, to provide a lower track for slidably receiving a lower flange extending from a lower edge of said extension wall, for positioning the side extension wall relative to said fixed said wall.
- 43. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said side extension wall includes an inner panel joined to an outer panel.
- 44. An assembly as set forth in claim 42, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 45. An assembly as set forth in claim 44 wherein said lower track of said fixed side wall includes a radially extending locking groove for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism.
- 46. An assembly as set forth in claim 29, further comprising a tailgate panel having a generally planar shape, and fixedly attached to the tailgate, wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed groove forming a lower track for guiding said side extension wall over said tailgate panel.
- 47. An assembly as set forth in claim 46, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 48. An assembly as set forth in claim 47 wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed locking groove extending radially from said track, for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism when the side extension wall is in an extended position with the tailgate in a lowered position.
- 49. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said positioning mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a block slidingly extending from a side of said divider panel, and actuating said handle operatively retracts said block for repositioning said divider panel.
- 50. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said positioning mechanism is disposed within said divider panel and includes an upper handle operatively connected to a center lever that is operatively connected to a positioning block extending therethrough an opening in a side of said divider panel, said positioning mechanism being operable to bias said positioning block between a locked position, wherein said positioning block is engaged within an indexing groove in the said side wall for retaining said divider panel in a fixed position, to a retracted position wherein said divider panel is movable.
- 51. An assembly as set forth in claim 29, wherein said floor includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 52. An assembly as set forth in claim 29, wherein said end wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 53. An assembly as set forth in claim 29, wherein said tailgate panel includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 54. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said divider panel is articulatable.
- 55. An assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said support means for said divider panel is a rod extending transversely, with a wheel attached at each end of the rod.
- 56. A multi-functional cargo bed liner assembly for a cargo bed of a vehicle comprising:
a first and a second side wall disposed in a transversely spaced relationship, wherein said first and second side walls includes a fixed side wall having a lower section, a midsection and an upper section, and a side extension wall slidably attached to said fixed side wall, such that said side extension wall is extendable out over a lowered tailgate of the vehicle to cooperately increase a length dimension of the cargo bed; a channel formed in the midsection of the fixed side wall for slidably positioning said side extension wall with respect to said fixed side wall; a plurality of indexing grooves in said lower section of the fixed side wall spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing a position of said divider panel; a back wall formed in the upper section of said fixed side wall that is generally planar and a front wall attached to said back wall, to define a storage area; a longitudinally extending integral guide track disposed in said fixed side wall and said side extension wall; a lip is formed by a lower edge of said front wall and a flange extends from an edge of said lip to form a portion of said integral guide track; an upper flange extending from an upper edge of said side extension wall forms another portion of said integral guide track; wherein said side extension wall includes a forward section that is not integral with the floor, and a rearward section that is integral with the floor, and both the forward section and rearward section include a plurality of indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing the position of the divider panel; an upper end of the indexing grooves forms a gear track for the integral guide track; a lower flange extends from a lower edge of said rearward section for positioning the side extension wall with respect to the fixed side wall; an end wall extends therebetween said first and second side walls at a first end; a floor extending therebetween said first and second side walls; a movable divider panel supported within said integral guide track by a support means, and extending transversely therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said divider panel includes a positioning mechanism for fixedly locating the divider panel.
- 57. An assembly as set forth in claim 56 wherein said front wall includes an access opening, and a door covers the access opening.
- 58. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein said flange includes a longitudinally extending guide slot for receiving a guide means for positioning the side extension wall relative to the fixed side wall, such that the guide means projects from the side extension wall and travels within the guide slot in said flange.
- 59. An assembly as set forth in claim 58, wherein said guide means is a bolt.
- 60. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein a lower edge of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed groove extending longitudinally, to provide a lower track for slidably receiving a lower flange extending from a lower edge of said extension wall, for positioning the side extension wall relative to said fixed said wall.
- 61. An assembly as set forth in claim 56 wherein said side extension wall includes an inner panel joined to an outer panel.
- 62. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 63. An assembly as set forth in claim 62 wherein said lower track of said fixed side wall includes a radially extending locking groove for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism.
- 64. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, further comprising a tailgate panel having a generally planar shape, and fixedly attached to the tailgate, wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed groove forming a lower track for guiding said side extension wall over said tailgate panel.
- 65. An assembly as set forth in claim 64, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 66. An assembly as set forth in claim 65 wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed locking groove extending radially from said track, for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism when the side extension wall is in an extended position with the tailgate in a lowered position.
- 67. An assembly as set forth in claim 56 wherein said positioning mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a block slidingly extending from a side of said divider panel, and actuating said handle operatively retracts said block for repositioning said divider panel.
- 68. An assembly as set forth in claim 67 wherein said positioning mechanism is disposed within said divider panel and includes an upper handle operatively connected to a center lever that is operatively connected to a positioning block extending therethrough an opening in a side of said divider panel, said positioning mechanism being operable to bias said positioning block between a locked position, wherein said positioning block is engaged within an indexing groove in the said side wall for retaining said divider panel in a fixed position, to a retracted position wherein said divider panel is movable.
- 69. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein said floor includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 70. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein said end wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 71. An assembly as set forth in claim 56, wherein said tailgate panel includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 72. An assembly as set forth in claim 56 wherein said divider panel is articulatable.
- 73. An assembly as set forth in claim 56 wherein said support means for said divider panel is a rod extending transversely, with a wheel attached at each end of the rod.
