Claims
- 1. A multi-functional cargo bed liner assembly for a cargo bed of a vehicle comprising:
a first and a second side wall disposed in a transversely spaced relationship, an end wall extending therebetween the first and second side wall at a first end, and a floor extending therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said first and second side wall, end wall and floor are integral and formed as one piece, a frame for supporting said first and second side walls, wherein said frame includes a track accessible through a slot in each of said side walls; and a movable divider panel supported within said track by a support means, and extending transversely therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said divider panel includes a positioning mechanism for fixedly locating the divider panel.
- 2. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said side wall further comprises a fixed side wall and a side extension wall slidably attached to said fixed side wall, such that said side extension wall extends out over a lowered tailgate of the vehicle, and said side extension wall, divider panel and tailgate panel cooperate to increase the length dimension of the cargo bed.
- 3. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, further comprising a tailgate panel having a generally planar shape, and fixedly attached to the tailgate, wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed groove forming a track for said side extension wall.
- 4. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein a lower edge of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed groove extending transversely, to provide a lower track, and an upper portion of said fixed side wall forms a lip to provide an upper track for positioning the side extension wall relative to said fixed said wall.
- 5. An assembly as set forth in claim 4, wherein said side extension wall includes a locking mechanism for fixating the position of said side extension wall relative to said fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab.
- 6. An assembly as set forth in claim 5 wherein said lower track of said fixed side wall includes a radially extending locking groove for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism.
- 7. An assembly as set forth in claim 5 wherein said tailgate panel includes an integrally formed locking groove extending radially from said track, for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism when the side extension wall is in an extended position with the tailgate in a lowered position.
- 8. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein the slot in said side wall extends transversely between an upper portion and a lower portion of said fixed side wall.
- 9. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein the slot in said side wall extends transversely between an upper portion and a lower portion of said side extension wall.
- 10. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said floor includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 11. An assembly as set forth in claim 1, wherein said end wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 12. An assembly as set forth in claim 2, wherein said tailgate panel includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 13. An assembly as set forth in claim 3, wherein a lower portion of said fixed side wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing a position of the divider panel.
- 14. An assembly as set forth in claim 3, wherein an upper portion of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed recess covered by a lid to provide a storage compartment.
- 15. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said positioning mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a block slidingly extending from a side of said divider panel, and actuating said handle operatively retracts said block for repositioning said divider panel.
- 16. An assembly as set forth in claim 4 wherein said side extension wall includes an inner panel joined to an outer panel, and said outer panel includes a lower flange extending therefrom a lower edge of said outer panel to form a guide for the outer panel in the lower track of the fixed side wall and an upper flange extending therefrom an upper edge of said outer panel to from an upper guide for the side extension wall in an upper track in said fixed side wall.
- 17. An assembly as set forth in claim 16 wherein said positioning mechanism is disposed between said inner panel and said outer panel, and includes an upper handle operatively connected to a center lever that is operatively connected to a positioning block extending therethrough an opening in a side of said side extension panel, said positioning mechanism being operable to bias said positioning block between a locked position, wherein said positioning block is engaged within the indexing groove in the said side wall for retaining said divider panel in a fixed position, to a retracted position wherein said divider panel is movable.
- 18. An assembly as set forth in claim 16 further comprising a locking mechanism disposed between said inner panel and said outer panel.
- 19. A cargo bed liner as set forth in claim 18 wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle having a generally planar face, with a recess in the face for actuating said handle, and a lower edge of said handle includes an integrally formed locking tab projecting from said lower face, and a biasing spring, for retaining said locking tab in a locking groove.
- 20. An assembly as set forth in claim 3 wherein said frame includes an inner track having a “C” shape slidably disposed within an outer track having a “U” shape, and the fixed side wall is secured to said outer track and said side extension wall is secured to said inner track.
- 21. An assembly as set forth in claim 20 wherein said inner track and includes a gear track disposed therein for indexing travel of the divider panel.
- 22. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said divider panel is articulatable.
- 23. An assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said support means for said divider panel is a rod extending transversely, with a wheel attached at each end of the rod.
- 24. A multi-functional cargo bed liner assembly for a cargo bed of a vehicle comprising:
a first and a second side wall disposed in a transversely spaced relationship, wherein said first and second wall includes a fixed side wall and a side extension wall slidably attached to said fixed side wall, such that said side extension wall is extendable to increase the length dimension of the cargo bed; said first and second side extension walls include a locking mechanism for fixating a position of said first side extension wall respective to said first fixed side wall and said second side extension wall respective to said second fixed side wall, wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a locking tab; an end wall extending therebetween an end of said first fixed side wall and second fixed side wall; a floor extending therebetween said first and second fixed side walls, wherein said first and second fixed side wall, end wall and floor are integral and formed as one piece; a frame for supporting said first and second side walls, wherein said frame includes a track accessible through a transversely extending slot in said first side wall and said second side wall; and a movable divider panel supported within said track, and extending transversely therebetween said first and second side walls, wherein said divider panel includes a support means and positioning mechanism for fixedly locating the divider panel, and said support means includes a rod extending transversely with a wheel attached at each end of the rod, and said positioning mechanism includes a handle operatively attached to a block slidingly extending from a side of said divider panel, and actuating said handle operatively retracts said block for repositioning said divider panel along the track.
- 25. An assembly as set forth in claim 24, further comprising a tailgate panel having a generally planar shape, and fixedly attached to the tailgate, wherein said tailgate includes an integrally formed groove forming a track for said side extension wall.
- 26. An assembly as set forth in claim 24, wherein said floor includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 27. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said end wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 28. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said tailgate panel includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs spaced a predetermined distance apart.
- 29. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein a lower portion of said fixed side wall includes a plurality of longitudinally extending indexing grooves spaced a predetermined distance apart for indexing a position of said divider panel.
- 30. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein a lower edge of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed groove extending transversely, to provide a lower track and an upper portion of said fixed side wall forms a lip to provide an upper track for positioning the side extension wall relative to said fixed said wall.
- 31. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said lower track includes a radially extending locking groove for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism.
- 32. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said tailgate member includes an integrally formed locking groove extending radially from said track, for operatively engaging said locking tab of said locking mechanism when the side extension wall is in an extended position with the tailgate in a lowered position.
- 33. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein an upper portion of said fixed side wall includes an integrally formed recess covered by a lid to provide a storage compartment.
- 34. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said side extension wall includes an inner panel joined to an outer panel, and said outer panel includes a lower flange extending therefrom a lower edge of said outer panel to form a guide for the outer panel in the lower track of the fixed side wall and an upper flange extending therefrom an upper edge of said outer panel to from an upper guide for the side extension wall in an upper track in said fixed side wall.
- 35. An assembly as set forth in claim 34 wherein said positioning mechanism is disposed between said inner panel and said outer panel, and includes an upper handle operatively connected to a center lever that is operatively connected to a positioning block extending therethrough an opening in a side of said side extension panel, said positioning mechanism being operable to bias said positioning block between a locked position, wherein said positioning block is engaged within the indexing groove in the said side wall for retaining said divider panel in a fixed position, to a retracted position wherein said divider panel is movable.
- 36. An assembly as set forth in claim 34, wherein said locking mechanism is disposed between said inner panel and said outer panel.
- 37. An assembly as set forth in claim 36 wherein said locking mechanism includes a handle having a generally planar face, with a recess in the face for actuating said handle, and a lower edge of said handle includes an integrally formed locking tab projecting from said lower face, and a biasing spring, for retaining said locking tab in a locking groove.
- 38. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said frame includes an inner track having a “C” shape slidably disposed within an outer track having a “U” shape, and the fixed side wall is secured to said outer track and said side extension wall is secured to said inner track.
- 39. An assembly as set forth in claim 38 wherein said inner track and includes a gear track disposed therein for indexing travel of the divider panel.
- 40. An assembly as set forth in claim 24 wherein said divider panel is articulatable.
