The present invention relates to the field of handbags. More specifically, the present invention relates to customizing handbags, creating multiple looks with just one bag, and easily change the beltbag to handbag or handbag to beltbag.
Handbags today are used for both utilitarian purposes as well as aesthetic purposes. In relation to utilitarian purposes, handbags are used to store personal, safekeeping items such as a wallet, money, credit cards, checkbooks, keys and mobile devices. For the most part, people want a handbag that will keep these personal items safe and secure as well as be easily accessible to these same items when needed. The hassle to replace these personal items makes most people safeguarded when it comes to their bag while out in public. When a person leaves their bag unattended for any periods of time while out in public, the person is subjected to the threat of having their bag and/or contents inside stolen. The person is faced with this problem whether they are at a dining establishment, work environment, or really any place outside their residence. To avoid this potential problem of having their bag stolen, a user is forced to carrier their bag wherever they go while out in public. This poses a problem of the user not being able to freely move either hands or arms because their bag is occupying one of them.
In relation to a handbag being aesthetically pleasing, a person will coordinate the material of the bag to their outfit. To compliment every ensemble with a handbag, a person may be faced with the financial problem of owning multiple handbags. While owning multiple handbags, a user is then faced with unwanted costs of purchasing multiple bags, unwanted costs of maintaining the bags to keep it to its original condition, and problems with storing multiple bags. Also with owning multiple bags, a user is faced with the hassle of transferring items from one bag to another bag when they desire a change in bags. When a handbag user transfers items from one bag to another bag, they may be faced with the obstacle of not being able to fit all of their personal items in the new bag. Also in the process of transitioning to a new bag, a person may accidently leave behind important items, which could pose a problem once they are away from their residence out in public.
When a person chooses a bag for use, they choose among different classifications of bags as well as different types of carrying handles and/or straps. The choice in bag classification ranges from a bag to carry on ones arm, in ones hand, on ones back, or on ones belt. The choice among straps entail: cross-over-body strap, shoulder bag strap, under-the-arm strap, or no strap at all. This again poses the problem of the user owning too many bags. Also when one makes a choice in a certain bag to carry, once they leave their residence or permanent location, they rarely have the opportunity to change the class of their handbag or change the carrying straps or handles while they are out in public. This limits the user the freedom to change their bag selection without toting along an additional bag or various straps or handles while out in public.
When a person chooses to wear a beltbag for security and convenience factors, their choices are quite limited among bag styles. Typically today's beltbags are used primarily for casual purposes. Today when a person dresses in business attire or evening wear, they must forgo the security and convenience of a beltbag and choose a handbag, clutch, or purse that best suits their attire.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a system that easily transforms a beltbag to handbag and/or handbag to beltbag. The look of the bag is capable of being configured in a variety of ways per the choice of the user. Both the front side and backside of the outer panel of the bag may be made up of different material to reflect the different looks of the one bag. The reversible quality of the bag provides the user the option to easily change the look of the bag. Regardless if the user positions the bag on the front side to display one look or the back side to display a different look of the bag- the user has the ability to easily gain access to the contents being carried inside the bag with the dual entry aspect. Also the detached belt, which makes up the beltbag style, may entail a reversible fabric that coordinates with both outer panels of the bag. In addition to the bag and the belt, this invention provides a variety of carrying straps and handles so the user may interchange the bag into multiple looks. The straps and handles are securely concealed in an enclosed pocket located at the top of the bag, which is easily assessable, by the user when they desire to modify the bag. This invention allows the user to easily adapt the bag into whatever style of their choice while on the go. This invention is practical in the sense the user will obtain multiple looks from just one bag. This invention is also aesthetically pleasing because the user will be able to transform the bag into multiple styles and coordinate to different outfits.
The present invention is comprised generally of (i) a main body pouch comprising a front side and back side permanently joined along the right and left perimeter of the front and back side; a top boundary of the front and back side forming an open periphery; and a top boundary of the front and back side forming a closed periphery; (ii) a belt body with terminal ends; (iii) at least one fastening device to secure the belt body to the top boundary of the main body such that the belt body is attachable and detachable from the main body; and (iv) at least one fastening device to secure the belt body around a user's waist such that the the handbag is transformable to a beltbag by securing the belt body around a user's waist.
The objects and advantages of statements recited above will be illustrated in drawings and referenced in specific embodiments. It should be noted that drawings are not drawn to scale and are merely used for illustrated purposes only. Also drawings only depict typical embodiments of items used in the invention and should not be considered limited to the nature of the scope of the invention. The objects and advantages of the invention will become more apparent to those skilled in the art after reviewing detailed description in connection to the illustrations outlined in the Figures.
The present invention provides a system that allows the user to easily modify bag styles in a manner that is highly efficient and practical. The look of a single bag can with little effort be transformed from a beltbag to handbag and handbag to beltbag without carrying multiple units. The units used to transform the bag into multiple styles such as, but not limited to, straps and handles are securely attached to the top of the back inside an enclosed pocket. All of the components used to transform the bag from beltbag to handbag or handbag to beltbag are within the one bag. The user also has the ability to dramatically change the look of the bag made of two different material designs by simply reversing the bag so the front becomes the back and the back becomes the front. In addition to reversing the bag, the user has the option to reverse the belt to display the different designs on each side of the belt. To further the choice of looks, the user may mix and match various belts and bags to create a truly unique look.
The term “bag” as used to reference this invention refers to any type of bag that a user may carry in their hand, carry on their arm, carry on their back, or attach it to their belt. Although the beltbags and handbags illustrated in the Figures encompass a smaller size, the “bag” used in this invention is depicted as having any various shape, size, length, or function.
In one embodiment, a user may wear the invention as one unit in a beltbag, or detach the bag from the belt and wear the invention as two separate pieces. The different types of material used to construct the fabric of the belt and bag include, but not limited to, fleece, wool, flannel, boucle, canvas, silk, twill, corduroy, satin, silk, rayon, velvet, crushed velvet, damask, denim, tweed, faux fur, faux leather, faux suede, leather, suede, jacquard, jersey, metallic, pique, quilted, seersucker, tapestry, and PVC.
The belt within the beltbag design is not limited by any specific design or limited in material. In one design, the user may choose a beltbag that is attached to a fashion metal chain link hooked around the person's waist. The links of the metal belt is, but not limited to be of a hollow oval shape. The user may choose the fashion metal chain link belt with coordinating reversible fabric to match the bag. The user also has the option to choose a fashion metal chain link belt without fabric woven throughout. The hollow links allow the user to attach the spring gate rings from the bag to the belt. On one side of the fashion metal chain link belt there is a smaller chain link extension and the other side there is a fastener (or similar device) used to connect the ends of the belt around the user's waist. The hardware used to construct the metal chain link fastener are made of, but not limited to, silver, nickel, gold-tone brass, antique, brass, colored metal, or plastic.
As indicated, the present invention displays the belt within the beltbag as a fashion metal chain link with reversible material woven in and out of the links. Other embodiments include, but not limited to, the fabric of the belt is not reversible, and is made of just one type of material such as leather, PVC, or another type of material. Another variation of belt types within the beltbag design includes, but not limited to be, fashion waist belts, braided belts, beaded belts, sash belts, and elastic belts. To accommodate the bag, each one of the belts detailed above have grommets, eyelets, or similar devices lined around the belt in order to attach the spring gate rings (or other devices) to attach the bag to the belt. Each belt are attached to the user's waist at the belt's terminal ends by, but not limited to, belt buckles, snaps, buttons, Velcro or tie-ons. The buckles and grommets, eyelets, or similar devices are constructed out of, but not limited to, silver, nickel, gold-tone brass, antique brass, any colored metal, or plastic. Each belt are constructed out of, but not limited to, leather, exotic animal skins, plastic, or any type of fabric. Also, the belt within the beltbag designs may include ornamental designs such as, but not limited to, beaded patterns, buttons, sequins, or studded with rhinestones. Regardless of design choice within the beltbag style, the belt of various sizes to accommodate most waist sizes.

All hardware such as, but not limited to, zippers, snaps, spring gate rings, fasteners, grommets, eyelets, key rings, handle clips, swivel latches, or any hardware used to construct the bag and belt are made of, but not limited to, silver, nickel, gold-tone brass, antique brass, or colored metal. In addition to the metal hardware, heavy-duty plastic or similar material is used to the construct the hardware of the bag and/or belt.
The size, length, and function of all material used to construct this invention may vary depending on style of bag and/or belt. This variation includes, but not limited to, the size and diameter of the spring gate rings used, the hardware and length of the zippers used in both the interiors and exteriors of the bag, the size of the snaps, and the thread quality (type and count) used to construct the bag and/or belt.

This present invention illustrates a bag and belt as having reversible qualities by using different material for both the front and back panel of the bag and/or belt. The user can also achieve the different styles of each panel with ornamental features of the bag and/or belt. Instead of creating a bag with different sided materials, the bag is constructed with one type of material and different ornamental pieces are added to the front and/or back panel to create multiple styles of the unit. Different ornamental features include, but not limited to, different swatches of fabric added to one side, pleats running vertical or horizontal along either side of the bag, decorative bows, flowers, fringe, ruffles, decorative pockets, or any decorative hardware added to one or both sides of the bag for aesthetic purposes.
This present invention may include the same type of hardware, fastener elements, or permanent elements. This present invention is also constructed using a mix of various hardware types, colors, permanent fasteners, or non-permanent fasteners. For an example, a bag is constructed with snaps on the top of the bag to enclose the various carrying handles and/or straps and Velcro is used to close the interior pockets, and a zipper is used to close the exterior dual entries of the bag to shield the user's personal contents. The mix and match within hardware applies to, but not limited to, both the front and backside of the panel to make up the bag.
This present invention depicts a zipper concealed by a flap or some sort on both the outer front and back panel of the bag. A zipper is used for utilitarian purposes to allow the user to easily gain access to their contents carried inside the bag no matter what side the bag is carried on. As indicated previously, in addition to zippers, other devices used to close and shield contents of the bag, include but not limited to, buttons, snaps, clasps, and hook-and-loop fasteners. In addition to the one access entrance on both the front and back panel, this invention includes designs with multiple accessible entrances to the contents of the bag. Multiple access entrances on one side or both front and back outer panels of the bag may be used for utilitarian purposes or aesthetic purposes such as a design feature of the bag.
There are a variety of carrying handles and straps used in this present invention that dramatically changes the style of the bag. The types of straps or handles include, but not limited to, metal chain link (finished in, but not limited to, silver, nickel, gold-tone brass, antique brass, colored material, or plastic0, wide padded straps (constructed out of, but not limited to, leather faux leather, or fabric), braided straps (constructed out of, but limited to, leather, faux leather, or fabric). On each end of the handle or strap there are swivel latch hooks (or any other similar spring-loaded attachments) which allows the user to easily attach or detach the handles or straps to the spring gate rings on both sides of the bag. The carrying straps or handles are securely attached to the spring gate rings and stored in a small compartment at the top of the bag. The user has the freedom to choose among various styles of straps and/or handles without carrying around different attachments. When the user decides on which carrying strap or handles to use for the handbag, they simply unsnap the concealed compartment at the top of the bag and select strap or handle that is already attached to the spring gate ring, retrieve the handle from the compartment, and snap the compartment back to conceal the remaining straps or handles. This particular element of this present invention gives the user the flexibility to choose a handle and/ or strap while out in public and change style of bag with little effort. The various carrying handles or straps provide the user many different handbag styles with only just one bag. The styles include, but not limited to, cross-over-body messenger bag, shoulder bag, and under-the-arm satchel.
In one embodiment, when the user selects the under-the-arm satchel design, the use will choose the longest strap such as the cross-over-body strap and then double the strap through the spring gate rings (or similar devices) to shorten the length. Once the strap is doubled, use will attach the swivel latch hooks (or similar devices) to the opposite ends of the spring gate rings to form the under-the-arm satchel design. This gives the user the benefit of creating multiple handbag designs with just one strap.
Within this invention, the interior of the bag includes a lining such as, but not limited to, interfacing so the bag retains shape regardless of style chosen by the user. In addition to the lining, the interior includes, but not limited to, one or more pockets to conceal the user's personal items. The interior pockets may be closed by, but not limited to zippers, Velcro, or snaps. Other interior conveniences include, but not limited to, key rings, cell phone pockets, and detachable wallet and/or change purse constructed from the same material as one of the outer panels of he bag, or any other durable fabrics used to construct wallets or change purses.
In addition to the interior pockets, this present invention may also include exterior pockets for both utilitarian and/or aesthetic purposes. An example of a utilitarian use of an exterior pocket includes, but not limited to, a cell phone pocket, eyeglass holder, or an attached wallet organizer Exterior pockets used for aesthetic purposes depend on the design of the bag. The hardware of the pockets positioned on the bag's exterior include, but not limited to, zippers, buttons, snaps, hook-and-loop fasteners, clasps, or Velcro.
To further enhance the uniqueness of this invention is to identify the brand name, Olive Roo™ on the interior and exterior of the bag. An example of identifying this present invention's brand name on the exterior of the bag includes, but not limited to, oval shaped nameplate, or tassel with brand name and trademark symbol attached to one of the spring gate rings, or dog tags attached to one of the spring gate rings by a small beaded chain.
