Claims
- 1. A four-stroke cycle internal combustion engine for use with an operator-carried, multiple-position implement comprising an engine housing have a cylinder housing portion, a crankcase housing portion, and an oil reservoir for lubricating oil;a crankshaft journalled for rotation in said crankcase housing; an oil mist generator drivably connected to said crankshaft including a splasher engageable with said lubricating oil as it is driven by said crankshaft, the splasher thereby generating an oil mist; a camshaft connected drivably to said crankshaft, a cam case, the camshaft being rotatably mounted in said cam case; a first oil mist flow passage in the camshaft, a radial port in the camshaft connecting said oil mist flow passage to the cam case; a valve chamber housing secured to said cylinder housing portion; and a second oil mist flow passage fluidly communicating first oil mist flow passage and said valve chamber.
- 2. The engine set forth in claim 1 wherein said first oil mist flow passage comprises a central opening extending axially through said camshaft, one end of said central opening communicating with the crankcase housing portion and an opposite end thereof communicating with said second oil mist flow passage.
- 3. An operator-carried, lightweight power tool for use in multiple operating positions comprising:an elongated frame; an implement mounted at one of said frame and a four-stroke cycle internal combustion engine mounted at an opposite end of said frame; said engine having an engine housing with an upper cylinder housing portion and a lower crankcase housing portion for engine lubricating oil; a crankshaft journalled for rotation in said crankcase housing portion; an oil mist generator drivably connected to said crankshaft including a splasher engageable with said lubricating oil as it is driven by said crankshaft, the splasher thereby generating an oil mist in said crankcase housing portion; a camshaft connected drivably to said crankshaft; a cam case; said camshaft being rotatably mounted in said cam case; a first oil mist flow passage in said camshaft, a radial port in said camshaft connecting said first oil mist flow passage to said cam case; a valve chamber housing secured to said cylinder housing portion; and a second oil mist flow passage fluidly communicating first oil mist flow passage and said valve chamber.
- 4. The engine set forth in claim 3, wherein said first oil mist flow passage comprises a central opening extending axially through said camshaft, one end of said central opening communicating with the crankcase housing portion and an opposite end thereof communicating with said second oil mist flow passage.
